The first cohort of students will graduate in 2017 and this post will form part of the team of clinical academics who manage the pre-registration placements and support students’ professional development. Having appointed staff with experience of hospital pharmacy, we are expanding the team to include a dedicated community pharmacy practice post. The role holder will take responsibility for the provision and assessment of high quality community placements on the integrated MPharm programme and contribute to the development and delivery of clinical pharmacy teaching and professional practice on the School’s undergraduate programmes including the BSc International Pharmacy. It will also develop provision for continuing professional development for qualified pharmacists.Main Responsibilities 1.To design, develop, and deliver a range of teaching and training in pharmacy practice and education on undergraduate programmes, postgraduate programmes and continuing professional development courses.2.To take responsibility for the quality of course delivery, ensuring compliance with the quality standards and regulations of the University, academic unit and third parties such as the General Pharmaceutical Council. 3.To apply and develop innovative and appropriate teaching and training techniques and material within pharmacy practice and education, which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students. Coach and advise others on teaching and learning methods.4.Following completion of a PhD (if not already awarded), to supervise and examine PhD students, both internally and externally.5.To contribute to the curriculum leadership in pharmacy practice and education, developing course proposals within the teaching and learning programmes in the School, e.g. through delivery of advanced research lectures to staff and/or delivery of modules. 6.To provide academic and organisational leadership in pharmacy practice and education, by for example co-ordinating resources, the work of others to ensure the effective delivery of courses and agree objectives and work plans with the team. 7.To act as a line manager (including contributing to the performance review) and personal mentor to peers and colleagues and provide expert advice and coaching to colleagues and students internally and externally. 8.To resolve problems affecting the quality of course delivery and student progress, referring more serious matters to others, as appropriate. 9.To contribute to the accreditation of the MPharm programmes and quality control processes. Tackle issues affecting the quality of delivery within the scope of own level of responsibility, referring more serious matters to others, as appropriate.10.To contribute to the development of the teaching and learning policy in the School, in particular in the area of pharmacy education and training, and contribute to national policy debate.11.To coach and support tutorial groups, developing their knowledge and their learning skills, and be responsible for the pastoral care of students within a specified area, dealing with sensitive issues. Act as a Pre-registration Facilitator.12.To act as an external examiner to other institutions and provide professional advice.13.To lead and develop internal (e.g. by chairing/participating in University Committees) and external relationships (e.g. external examiners/assessors and/or active researchers) to foster future collaboration.14.To generate new research approaches and contribute generally to the development of thought and practice in the field of pharmacy practice and education. Review and synthesise the outcomes of research projects in pharmacy practice and apply to research and teaching practice, where appropriate.15.To develop and sustain an on-going international reputation as a research leader in pharmacy practice and education, through original research work including successful completion of a part-time PhD if not already awarded. Publish results of research through leading peer-reviewed international publications, and present or exhibit at national/international conferences and other similar events. 15.To investigate and develop new approaches, methodologies and techniques appropriate to pharmacy.16.To develop research initiatives to foster collaboration and generate income. 17.To apply research results in public policy or commerce where there is a demonstrable benefit to the University and School. 18.Be responsible for administrative duties in areas such as admissions, timetabling, examinations, student attendance, and represent the School on committees and working groups in the wider University and outside of the University and managing or monitoring assets and budgets allocated as part of the role.Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceEssentialDesirableQualifications/ EducationGood MPharm degree.Clinical Pharmacy Diploma.Higher Education Teaching qualification or equivalent.Postgraduate qualification.PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area.Skills/TrainingExcellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex information.Excellent IT skills including MS Office.
