ACCESS for ELLs is a standards-based, criterion referenced English language proficiency test designed to measure English learners’ social and academic proficiency in English.The Georgia Alternate Assessment (GAA) is a key component of the Georgia Student Assessment Program. An essential tenet of both the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), is the fact that states must ensure that all students, including students with significant cognitive disabilities, have access to a general curriculum that encompasses challenging academic standards. States must also ensure that all students are assessed for their progress toward meeting academic standards.Georgia Milestones EOG (3-8): Students in grades 3 through 8 take an end-of-grade assessment in English Language Arts and Mathematics while students in grades 5 and 8 are also assessed in Science and Social Studies. ? A hard copy of the Individual Student Report (ISR) is sent home in a sealed envelope with students and a parent letter the first week of school each year.Electronic copies will be kept in the Secure Assessment folder and on GaDOE portal.For the first time this year, we will do a mail merge, with leveled performance scores only, and a parent generated letter through the SLDS portal. This letter will include student name, performance level, cut scores and the date of retests when the electronic file arrives. ISRs will be sent home through a sealed envelope the first week of school in the 2018-19 school year. They are embargoed until mid-July and do not arrive to the district until late summer.Because these scores count for 20% of a student’s final grade, these scores are automatically loaded in IC and available through the SLDS portal. Parents receive hard copies of these results and a parent letter accompanies these results in a sealed envelope.Individual Student Reports Include scale score and a grade conversion score. The primary purpose of GKIDS is to provide ongoing diagnostic information about kindergarten students’ developing skills in English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Personal/Social Development, and Approaches to Learning. If parents request information, it will be given, but since it is a tool designed for classroom instruction only, results will NOT be sent home except by request.These are not sent home and reports are at the state and national level only.These are reported to schools electronically and mailed to students’ homes.These are not sent home and further information will be provided to testing coordinators as we know more.OPTIONAL TESTS GIVEN IN PCSDSAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test): A widely-used standardized test used for college admissions. This test is frequently hosted by PCSD high schools and scheduled by high school guidance counselors. Students register directly with the College Board. Tests are offered throughout the year. The optional tests include English, math, reading, science and writing. ACT registration deadlines are approximately 5 weeks prior to each test administration.? You can also register online at?AP (Advanced Placement): Assessment exams given following the completion of college-level courses taught by trained high school teachers in the regular high school setting. AP tests are scheduled by High School Counselors. Accuplacer: ?Accuplacer?is a web-based assessment tool used to determine skills in reading, writing, and math; used for admissions and placement by community colleges, four-year colleges and technical schools. ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery): A multiple choice test administered by the US Military Entrance Processing Command, used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces. Local school counselors will coordinate for an administration of the ASBAB test on campus, but it may be taken at local recruiting offices as well.
