YOUR CHOICE FUNCTION PROJECT

(This sheet MUST be turned in with your project!)

Choose ONE of the following options:

1) Function Machine Drawing/ Build a Function Machine

• Create a creative and original drawing of a function machine on unlined paper. Drawing should be very detailed and of high quality color and free of erasures or mistakes.

• Label the input, the rule, and the output on your drawing.

• A description of how the machine works must accompany your drawing – typed is preferred. (Use Which is Which for guidance)

• Your description must include an explanation of each of the following terms: function, input, output, domain, and range. It should explain why your drawing illustrates a function.

• Give an example that is not a function and explain.

• You must present your project to the class

2) Function Story

• Create a creative and original story to explain functions and how they work. The story should be detailed and a full story that is at least one page. The story should make sense from beginning to end.– typed is preferred

• Your story must include an explanation of each of the following terms: function, input, output, domain, and range. In the story, it should be clear your understanding of a function.

• Include an example that is not a function and explain.

• Get electronic copy of story to teacher. You must read your story

3) Function Poem

• Create a creative and original poem to explain functions and how they work. The poem should exhibit poem characteristics such as be detailed and a full story that is at least a half page.– typed is preferred

• Your poem must include an explanation of each of the following terms: function, input, output, domain, and range. In the poem, it should be clear your understanding of a function.

• Include an example that is not a function and explain.

• Get electronic copy of poem to teacher. You must read your poem

4) Function Rap/Song

• Create a creative and original rap or song to explain functions and how they work

• You must turn in a copy of your lyrics – typed is preferred

• Your rap or song must include an explanation of each of the following terms: function, input, output, domain, and range. In the rap or song, it should be clear your understanding of a function.

• Include an example that is not a function and explain.

• You must perform your rap/song and it must be memorized! or record your song as an audio or video file to be played in class
