• Responsible for administrative tasks associated with exhibits: communications with artists; entering application info and images into database; obtaining insurance coverage; and maintaining paperwork, such as loan agreements and condition reports

• Work with arts council communications staff on marketing of exhibits

2010

Public Art Manager, Legacy Trail—Blue Grass Community Foundation

• Oversaw recruitment, selection, and commissioning of 26 artists to create approximately 30 artworks on the Legacy Trail, within a 6 month time period

• Created and maintained the Artist Roster (a list of all artists who applied for consideration)

• Handled all communications between the artists and the Legacy Trail Public Art Consortium (LTPAC—made up of representatives from LexArts, the Lexington Art League, UK Department of Art, LFUCG, as well as private citizens)

• Managed artists and oversaw completion of designs or final artworks

• Worked with trail engineer, manufacturers, and construction crew on production, placement and installation of artwork

• Mediated discussions and disputes between the artists, LTPAC, trail engineer, and construction crew

• Coordinated the presentation of artworks to LTPAC and UCARB (Urban County Art Review Board) for approval

• Managed assistants and volunteers

2008-2010

Director, Tuska Center for Contemporary Art—University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY

• Responsible for all aspects of gallery operations, including: planning for 6-7 exhibits per season; contacting artists and other exhibit partners; arrangement of exhibit in the gallery; installation and de-installation of works; maintenance of gallery; publications and press relations

• Established TCCA’s Advisory Committee, with members drawn from UK faculty and staff, and the community at large

• Worked with the Art Department Chair and the Advisory Committee to establish long-term vision and goals for the gallery

• Supervised work-study students

• Organized special events in the gallery, such as Family Fun Days, in partnership with Art Education majors

• In addition to organizing and overseeing invitational & open exhibits, curated the following exhibits:

o Same New Thing (Feb 19-March 13, 2009)—Three regional painters: Bobby Campbell, Stephen Dorsett, & Lori Larusso

o Figuration to Fragmentation: The Human Form in Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture (Sept 11– Oct 15, 2009)—A figurative ceramics exhibit, held in conjunction with exhibit of the same title at Transylvania University’s Morlan Gallery. Jointly produced a catalog; hosted a series of lectures on the topics at both universities; and sponsored a mini conference at UK. Co-curators: Andrea Fisher and Hunter Stamps.

o Drawing On (Jan 14– Feb 10, 2010)—Local artists: Mike Goodlett, Elissa Morley, & Lawrence Tarpey, and Nashville artist Mark Hosford.

2007-2008

Independent Curator

Response to Fear, Lexington Art League @ the Loudoun House, (March 15-April 27, 2008). Co-curator: Michael Goodlett. Exhibit included a diverse group of artwork by 21 artists from around the country. Wrote the catalog copy and wall text to accompany exhibit.

• KY7, a regional biennial, Lexington Art League @ the Loudoun House, (Oct 18-Dec 20, 2008). Co-curators: Mike Deetsch and Andrea Fisher.

2005-2007

Visual Art Specialist—Lexington Art League, Lexington, KY

• Researched and conceived exhibit themes; recruited artists and coordinated logistics for exhibits, with input from LAL Visual Art Committee (comprised primarily of visual art professionals)

• Worked with Executive Director to determine short and long-term strategic planning

• Fulfilled curatorial duties, such as: preparation, installation and dismantling of exhibits in four gallery spaces; arranged for receipt and shipping of artwork; maintained quality of gallery spaces
