AVNA Compliance Committee

Purpose

Aurora Health Care, Inc. (“Aurora”) has implemented a comprehensive Compliance and Integrity Program (the “Program”). The Aurora Visiting Nurse Association (“AVNA”) Compliance Committee is designated as an “Operational Compliance Committee,” reporting to the System Compliance Committee. It is multidisciplinary committee that serves to advise the Compliance Officer – AVNA/AFS/ABHS, to assist in the implementation of the Program, and to promote and encourage a culture of compliance and integrity AVNA.

Functions

The AVNA Compliance Committee evaluates and coordinates development and implementation of compliance-related standards, training and monitoring for AVNA. The AVNA Compliance Committee’s functions include:

• Analyzing the regulatory environment and legal requirements, and identifying specific risk areas;

• Identifying and assessing existing standards, policies and procedures that address risk areas for possible incorporation into the Program;

• Developing standards, policies and procedures to promote compliance with legal and ethical requirements;

• Designing and coordinating internal controls and monitoring systems to assure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and Aurora policies and procedures;

• Monitoring internal and external audits and reviews for the purpose of identifying problems and implementing corrective and preventative action;

• Collecting and trending data resulting from compliance review activities and reporting the data to Compliance Department leadership and applicable management representatives;

• Determining appropriate strategies and approaches to promote compliance within AVNA;

• Reviewing and addressing reports of suspected compliance issues;

• Coordinating compliance education activities; and

• Reporting summary of activities to the System Compliance Committee.

Composition

The AVNA Compliance Committee is an interdisciplinary group comprised of members of AVNA management and includes representatives from the following:

• Compliance Officer – AVNA/AFS/ABHS

• President AVNA

• VP - AVNA Finance

• Human Resources

• Director – Clinical Services & Hospice

• Director – Pharmacy

• DME

• Medical Director

• Manager - Patient Accounts

• Director, Quality & Education

• Manager – Caremanagement/Quality

• HIM

• Manager, Community Programs

The AVNA Compliance Committee is chaired by the Compliance Officer – AVNA/AFS/Behavioral Health.

Meetings

The AVNA Compliance Committee meets quarterly, or more frequently as needed.
