Capacity Building for Sustainable Tourism and Reviving Tourism

IFTM Global Centre for Tourism Education & Training and UNWTO Online Training Programme for the Greater Mekong Sub-region

"Capacity Building for Sustainable Tourism and Reviving Tourism"

Background

The tourism sector is well known for being resilient, and it has bounced back relatively quickly after each major regional or international crisis. We have weathered and coped with the ravages of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks, Asian Financial Crisis, SARs, Indian Ocean Tsunami, and the Global Financial Crisis. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has been quite unprecedented, and the tourism sector has been severely impacted. It is acknowledged that following the Covid-19 period there will be a "new normal" and that the tourism industry will be one of the last to recover
