Overview

Welcome to the Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite 2011 Installation and Licensing Guide for Windows. Autodesk Suites are designed to provide you with a unified install experience for its constituent products on Windows. This edition of the Suite can be supported on Windows 32 and 64 bit workstations. This guide explains how to install the Suite and its software components.

Audience

This document is intended for anyone who will be installing and using the Autodesk software included in the Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite 201l.

To carry out this installation with ease, you should be familiar with network-ready software and network topology issues, license management technology. If you have difficulties, please contact Autodesk Technical Support on page 3.

Suite Components

A complete Suite installation consists of a number of components. Each version of the Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite will include different combinations of Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Softimage, MotionBuilder and Mudbox.

NOTE For the purposes of this Installation Guide, the title Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite will be used to represent the following: Autodesk 3ds Max Entertainment Creation Suite, Autodesk Maya Entertainment Creation Suite, Autodesk Softimage Entertainment Creation Suite, Autodesk Education Suite for Entertainment Creation, and Autodesk Animation Academy Suite, unless otherwise specified.

Suite Configuration

Each Suite will be installed on only one workstation.

System Requirements

The software included in this Suite can be supported by various CPU Architectures and Operating Systems. Please see System Requirements on page 6 for further details.

Documentation and Support

Documentation for the Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite 2011 is available through the Documentation link in the installer. In addition to the documentation link on the Installation Wizard's main menu, there is a documentation link in the bottom left corner of all subsequent screens. Clicking this link will open a Web page that links to all the documentation associated with the Suite.

Notation

Usage

Commands, Windows file names, and directories are written in courier bold.

Variables, such as system-specific information, are enclosed in angle brackets and written in courier italics.
