|Position Summary |

|Purpose of the role and main job functions (Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may|

| |To manage safely and efficiently the production and refurbishment of low loader trailers, rail and road bespoke automotive vehicles | |

| |and Plant lines in line with Company policies and procedures. | |

| |To ensure that suitable, relevant and appropriate risk assessments, working procedures and safe systems of work are in place at all | |

| |times for all operations at the facility and to ensure that they are followed at all times. | |

| |Line manage Supervisory staff and be responsible for approximately 90 employees. | |

| |To motivate maintenance and production teams to ensure that the site runs efficiently. | |

| |Identify areas for productivity improvements and implement plans to achieve these improvements. | |

|Main Duties |

|Duties/responsibilities |

|Operate in a safe manner following all rules, procedures, permissions, licences, contracts and instructions. |

|To manage the safe and efficient operation of all production lines and associated activities. |

|Provide tactical direction ensuring that sufficient manpower is available on each shift and their motivation, appraisal, induction, training,|

|coaching and discipline as and when required. |

|To utilise all resources as efficiently, effectively and economically as possible to protect profitability. |

|Support the Director with initiatives to grow the business in a sustainable way. |

|Ensure a workforce plan is in place to future-proof the operation and develop internal talent. |

|Ensure that suitable, relevant and appropriate risk assessments, working procedures and safe systems of work are in place at all times for |

|all operations at the facility. |

|Ensure customer service is provided to all Clients including regular direct contact with key Clients. |

|Ensure that the end product is completed in accordance with contractual requirements and maintain accurate records thereof. |

|Ensure relevant and suitable preventative maintenance is carried out in a timely manner. |

|Ensure all daily plant maintenance checks, repairs and servicing is carried out in a timely manner. |

|Ensure working areas are kept tidy and maintain access to emergency exits where appropriate. |

|Skills, Qualifications, Competence Level |

|Qualifications/education required |

| |Good general educational background, although practical experience is more important than academic qualifications. | |

| | | |

| |Experience of operating production/manufacturing facilities is essential in this role, with a working knowledge of “Lean | |

| |Manufacturing” techniques highly beneficial. | |

| | | |

| |A current driving licence is essential. | |

|Experience required |

| |The successful candidate must have 5+ years proven ability in an operational management role having managed a team of staff and be | |

| |able to demonstrate an ability to communicate work instructions in a clear manner. | |

| | | |

| |Proven leadership skills within an engineering and/or manufacturing environment with excellent people management skills and an | |

| |ability to inspire confidence and trust within a diverse workforce. | |

| | | |

| |They must be able to work on their own initiative and problem solve when under pressure. | |

|Particular aptitude/skill required |

| |The post holder must offer the flexibility to meet quickly changing operational demands at the manufacturing site. They must be able| |

| |to demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to exceed targets. | |

| | | |

| |The ability to deal with more than one issue at a time is imperative and to provide strong leadership to promote teamwork. | |

| | | |

| |The role will involve some unsocial hours and therefore there is a requirement to be flexible in respect of working hours to suit | |

| |the operational needs of the facility. | |
