POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

|POSITION: |AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR |

|PRIMARY LOCATION: |DeKalb & Newton Campus |

|DESCRIPTION: |This position requires teaching responsibilities for credit courses within the Industrial Division. Instruction will |

| |include both lecture and laboratory activities and may involve Internet classes, Saturdays and Dual Enrollment |

| |classes. The instructor will report to the Dean. |

|ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: |The Instructor must possess the ability to: |

| | |

| |Teach all phases of the Automotive curriculum |

| |Teach high school students in dual enrollment programs |

| |Additional duties include developing instructional materials |

| |Evaluating students’ progress in achieving instructional goals and objectives |

| |Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training area |

| |Provide professional instruction based on approved course syllabus |

| |Prepare curriculum for coursework taught |

| |Work flexible hours |

| |Operate & maintain instructional equipment & trainers |

| |Deliver training by lecture, hands on, computer multi-media, online & text |

| |Maintain program certification requirements |

|MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: |Three or more years within the last ten of full-time, paid in-field work experience in automotive service, automotive |

| |education/training, or a closely related field. |

| |AND/OR |

| | |

| |Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Automotive Mechanics/Engineering, or a |

| |related field. |

| | |

| |Must hold or be willing to obtain and maintain during employment, ASE certifications at the Master Automobile |

| |Technician level. Appropriate degree will reflect the requirements of the College’s accrediting agency. |

| | |

| |All applicants must complete an online application, upload resume, unofficial transcripts, and cover letter. Official |

| |The position is located within a Newton County High School. The applicant will be required to submit to standard |

| |Newton county school system fingerprint and background checks. |

|PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: |A Bachelor’s or Masters’ Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Automotive |

| |Mechanics/Engineering, or a related field is desirable. |

| | |

| |Five or more years, within the last ten of full-time, paid in-field work experience in automotive service, automotive |

| |education/training, or a closely related field. Teaching/advising/mentoring college-level students with broad, |

| |diverse backgrounds are also desired. |

| | |

| |A comprehensive knowledge of current automotive systems technology, experience with automotive diagnosis, |

| |troubleshooting and repair. |

| | |

| |Knowledge of Angel (Learning Management System) is desirable. |

|salary/benefits: |Salary is dependent on field and credentials for all Adjunct Faculty postings. Adjunct Faculty are temporary |

| |positions, scheduled based on class needs of the college. Adjunct Faculty will generally sign assignment |

| |acknowledgements which cover a single term at a time, and employment is not guaranteed. Adjunct faculty members do |

| |not receive benefits and are scheduled as needed. Adjunct Faculty work on a per-term basis, therefore future courses |

| |are not assured. Georgia Defined Contributions and taxes will be deducted. |
