RAB Observations on Promo Opportunities:

December is the last month of the year and is filled with holiday cheer! We kick off the month with National Peppermint Latte Day. This is a great time to reach out to local coffee shops and grocery stores to begin an on-air campaign letting listeners know where they can go for a seasonal latte or to grab supplies to make one at home. National Poinsettia Day is on the 12th. Connect with florists, lawn & garden stores, grocery stores and nurseries to communicate with listeners about where they should go to grab their poinsettias this year. Since December is a month where there is more time at home, National Bake Day is a perfect time to whip up some holiday treats with loved ones. Reach out to specialty stores, bakeries, delis, and supermarkets to get the word out to listeners where to go for any baking equipment and supplies. With Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa all happening back-to-back this month, communicate with specialty stores, grocery stores, shopping malls, local retailers, online retailers, jewelry stores, toy stores etc. to promote gifting ideas, decoration ideas and items that will help celebrate this time with family and friends. This is also a good time to create sales campaigns to encourage your listeners where to shop during the holidays for various items. Finally, as we wrap up the year of 2021 and ring in a new year, reach out to local party stores, grocery stores, craft, and liquor stores to help listeners make their decisions on where to go to find supplies to celebrate New Year's Eve. Also, get in touch with local venues to promote New Year's Eve parties on your radio station.

As we embrace the start of a new year, it's a time to gather with family and friends to celebrate before getting back to regular routines. In preparation of ringing in 2022, get in touch with party stores, liquor stores, supermarkets, and specialty stores to spread awareness of where listeners can go for their celebration needs. It's also a time to get in touch with event venues to help promote their New Year's Eve parties on air. The whole month of January is National Mentoring Month. This is a great opportunity to focus on local communities by getting in touch with schools, after school programs and local mentoring organizations to promote the importance that mentors have in the lives of youth. It is also National Blood Donor Month. Communicate with your local chapter of the Red Cross, local hospitals, blood banks and corresponding organizations to spread awareness of how donating blood can save the lives of others. National Gluten-Free Day acknowledges that fact that some people have an intolerance for gluten and is a good day to promote alternative options. Reach out to bakeries, grocery stores and restaurants to promote where listeners can go regularly for gluten-free options. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a time to get involved with your community. Speak with local foundations and get them on air to spread the word of local events and how to celebrate in the community on this day. National Popcorn Day is on the 19th. Get in touch with supermarkets, specialty stores, popcorn stores and convenience stores to help listeners plan where to go to celebrate this day at home or pick up some popcorn for the occasion. National Seed Swap Day is a time to talk with garden centers, home improvement stores and gardeners. Create an on-air campaign to let listeners know where they can go to pick up seeds to plant or where they can go to attend gardening events with messages on when the best time to plant certain seeds will be.
