Director, Systems Development

Hired, led and motivated a team of sixteen highly successful developers, analysts, architects and database administrators to create an administrative healthcare transaction application. Initial launch of the web application was built and production-ready in less than six months. Multiple applications process and facilitate over nine million transactions per month including claims, eligibility and benefits, authorizations, referrals, claims status, and remittance advices. Web application supports direct user interface with physicians and hospitals as well as vendors, payers and clearinghouses. Application also includes an EDI interface for all batch transaction processing. All transactions are transformed, enriched and validated for HIPAA compliance.

Directed and planned capacity and performance testing with multiple partners. The team exceeded the company real-time transaction response time and system availability goals. Responsibilities included performing maintenance and support for multiple environments: development, testing and production. Facilitated release management schedule, managing multiple large new releases and functional capability upgrades. Successfully developed and managed annual multi-million dollar budget.

2000 - 2004: Senior Project Manager, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Jacksonville, FL

Managed and supported the initial development resources for project Topaz, later to become Availity, LLC. Planned and assisted the internal process changes required with the operations of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida. Developed success criteria and metrics and worked closely with deployment resources to gain provider adoption and utilization in nearly ten thousand provider and hospital sites in Florida. Created and implemented statement of work, scope, assumptions and plans for multiple projects.

1988 - 2000: Vice President, Information Management, Bank of America, (formerly Barnett Bank) Jacksonville, FL

Process Engineer Consultant

Led and supported organization-wide process engineering improvements and total quality management efforts within the Information Management organization and throughout IT. Provided executive-level oversight and management of efforts and activities – tracking project budget vs. actual billings, tracking, escalating and resolving issues, and identifying opportunities for additional improvements throughout the organization.

Systems Project Manager

Responsible for managing multiple information technology projects for office automation software, including cross-selling automation application. Developed “Loan Document Mover” to allow central loan processing and remote document printing and closing resulting in multi-million dollar savings.
