Purpose

  Students will become familiar with some of the history of the target country, while employing technology to research and present their findings.

  

Description

 

1. Students will research a Hispanic country.

2. Students will create a Brochure (use a poster board) with images and facts about the significance of that country and present it to the class.

3.  The class will discuss differences and similarities between the countries. Each student will be expected to share research on the country researched.

 

Activities

 

In the Computer Lab students will complete research for the required information to be included in the brochure: (all subtitles are to be written in Spanish)

 

1.   Name of the country in Spanish

2.   El Mapa: map showing the location of the country in the world

3.   La Bandera: flag of the country displayed in the brochure

4.   El Gobierno: the government – President’s Name

5.   La Moneda: currency used and its conversion rate to U.S. dollars

6.   La Comida: the foods typical of the country

7. Los Recursos Naturales: natural resources

8.   El Clima: the climate

9.  Los Pasatiempos: past times, hobbies

10. La Capital: the capital city

11.   Un Lugar Interesante: an interesting place that you would like to visit

12. Airplane tickets price and hotel cost for a week . Include Spring and

Summer fares departing from Houston,TX

I, the parent of ___________________________ have read and understood that my student will create a project about a Hispanic Country. I will help him/ her by providing him the necessary tools to make it.

The due date will be April 14 ,2009

It will count for two grades .The brochure and the oral presentation.

They will be test grades.

This lesson meets academic standards for the study of Foreign Languages: Communication, Interpretive Communication, Cultures, Products of Cultures, Interdisciplinary Connections and Accessing Information
