It is my pleasure to introduce you to the University of Central Florida and the Department of History! We are proud to offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in History as well as many other minor programs that complement our History degree. The Bachelor of Arts in History gives you the tools needed to excel in today's market. In addition to learning valuable research and writing skills, our students gain analytical skills, communication skills, and become goal-focused.

The History, B.A. develops the mind and sparks a capacity for critical evaluation while also allowing us to understand the past and present, because it explores the full range of human thought and behavior in a systemic way. We hope that your studies at UCF will allow you to expand your understanding of others as well as your understanding of yourself. Students who major in History may pursue careers in International Affairs, Museum Administration, History Education, Journalism and New Reporting, among many other options. The possibilities are endless.

We have a diverse faculty coming with a wide range of experiences who are here to assist you in exploring your unique educational goals. The faculty who teach in our department are excited that you have chosen History as your future! Our department strives to provide you with quality educational opportunities and experiences through independent studies, internships, and other research opportunities. A history degree is only limited by your imagination and our program aims to enrich your life and prepare you for the next steps of your educational journey, whether that is continuing your education or entering the workforce.

CURRICULUM CORE REQUIREMENTS: ADVANCED LEVEL - 3 Credit Hours ? HIS4150 History and Historians RESTRICTED ELECTIVES - 21 Credit Hours Select six hours of approved history courses within three of four geographic regions: ? Asian, African, and Middle Eastern (6 credit hours) OR ? British and European (6 credit hours) OR ? Latin American (6 credit hours) OR ? U.S. and Canadian (6 credit hours) AND Select three hours of approved history courses. CAPSTONE REQUIREMENTS ? HIS4959 History Portfolio (0 credit hours)

In addition to the general UCF undergraduate admission requirements, applicants to the program should be aware of the following:

? Lower division courses do not substitute for upper division courses. ? Courses transferred from private and out-of-state schools must be evaluated for

equivalency credit. The student must provide all supporting information.
