Job Title: Librarian

Reports to: Administrative Manager of Engineering

Department: Engineering and Construction

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Job Summary:

Manage and maintain engineering library and information sources; maintain engineering data and records and provide on-going support.

Essential Functions:

Catalog and index all publications, reports, drawings, special materials and documents and retrieve same as requested; perform literature searches.

File engineering correspondence and maintain official project files; make copies and distribute; maintain files and records; arrange for binding of materials as needed.

Maintain engineering and construction drawings and specifications, construction progress photographs, videotapes, presentation posters, charts and maps; prepare and maintain checklists and indexes of holdings and location of all materials; maintain collection of catalogs and technical literature.

Maintain off-site storage areas for drawings and project records and archive and retrieves materials requested from same.

Prepare purchase requisitions for library materials; order and maintain office supplies for downtown engineering office.

Coordinate and assign work to summer office clerk.

Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Observe safe work practices.

Non-Essential Functions:

None.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Experience: Over five (5) years experience in managing a library practice including records and data management. A Master’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience.

Specific Skills: Ability to maintain records and prepare reports, follow instructions, establish and maintain relationships.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc:

Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices and materials applicable in general library operations and specialized library operations in particular. Knowledge of office procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Working Conditions:

General office environment.

Physical Demands:

Time split between sitting, standing and walking with less than 10% of time spent out of doors.

External: Interfaces with agencies
