WELCOME TO A NEW CHAPTER AT SOUTH SMITHS STATION BACK TO SCHOOL INFORMATION 2019-2020We are excited to welcome back our students and our families as we enter another great year here at South Smiths Station. The first day of school is quickly approaching and we have many exciting things planned. Our Calendar of Events is linked to the Parent Portal as are the Class Supply Lists. You may also follow our school and PTO on Facebook as well as on Twitter (@smiths_south). These are great tools to help our families stay connected and to receive up to date information. As we prepare for the first day, please note the following to help you plan:Complete and submit all online registration including uploading 2 new proofs of address mortgage/lease agreement + 1 utility, power, cable, or phone bill). If you cannot upload your proofs, you must bring a hard copy of the proofs to the front office in order to complete the registration process.6th Graders must be up to date on all immunizations. Please submit an updated card to the office.Ensure all mailing addresses and phone numbers are current and up to date.Alabama Tax Free weekend is July 19-21.Georgia Tax Free weekend is July 31-August 1.Plan to attend Meet the Teacher on August 6 from 12:00-3:00 cst. This is a drop in event. You may come and go as your schedule allows. You may also drop off any classroom supplies.PTO is looking for parent volunteers and help throughout the year. Please consider ways that you can help our wonderful PTO. PTO will have a table set up during the Teacher Meet and Greet.August 7, 2019 is the first day of class. Students should arrive on campus no later than 7:25 a.m. cst. Students dismiss from campus at 3:00 p.m. cst.Car riders should be dropped off no later than 7:25 a.m. cst and picked up no later than 3:10 p.m. cst.Our Extended Day Program will begin on August 7, 2019. This service is provided on a first come first serve basis and fees will be due on August 7, 2019.Title I Parent Meeting will be held on August 27 at 8:00 a.m. cst and at 5:00 p.m. cst in the cafeteria. Parents who wish to attend may choose either session.Parent Night will be held on August 27 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. cst. Please plan to join us and learn important information to help your child at school.Parent Nights that are scheduled throughout the year will begin at 5:30 p.m. cst. ................
