B. Section 337173, Electric Utility Meters

3. REFERENCES

A. AWWA: America Water Works Association

4. SUBMITTALS

A. Submit technical data sheets, installation manuals, and/or user documentation manuals that describe product installation, operation and maintenance, physical data, electrical characteristics, and connection requirements.

B. Submit shop drawings depicting the meter installation.

1. Shop drawings shall be new, and prepared utilizing AutoCAD and backgrounds of the Port-provided reference drawings.

2. Shop drawings shall be of the size approved by the Port with title blocks, identifying drawing number and any reference drawings. Fully dimension all plans and elevations.

3. Shop drawings shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

a. Complete floor plans showing all meter locations.

b. Installation and mounting details drawn to scale.

C. Submit manufacturer’s engineering data that describes the pulse output value in cubic feet.

PRODUCTS

1. WATER METERS

Paragraph A is for Tenant use only. For Port project, delete, “No substitutions,” and replace with, “or pre-bid approved equal.”

A. Acceptable Manufacturer and Model: Badger Meter, Recordall Models M120, 70, and 35, no substitutions.

B. Meter Description:

1. Nutating disc type meter, lead-free bronze alloy housing, lead-free construction, stainless steel trim, disc, and magnet spindles.

2. Comply with AWWA performance standards.

Line 3 is for Tenant use only. Delete entirely for Port projects.

3. Use Model M120 for service connections at 1 1/2", Model 70 for connections at 1" and 1 1/4", or Model 35 for connections at 3/4".

C. Meter Output Description:

1. Provide meter with pulse output capability, Badger - Recordall Transmitter Register (RTR).

2. Pulse output shall be measured in cubic feet.

3. RTR shall have dial and odometer read out with cubic feet registers.

4. RTR shall have two conductor output for field connection.

5. RTR shall be provided with the meter base.

For Port projects, add, “or equal” after “Mueller Co.”

D. Meter Setter/Yoke: Provide a meter setter or yoke as manufactured by Ford Meterbox Co., A.Y. McDonald Manufacturing Co., or Mueller Co.. Meter setter/yoke shall be sized and selected for the meter lay length and connection sizes and the CW piping orientation (horizontal or vertical), connection sizes and types. Include a lockwing ball valve for shut-off on the meter inlet and a dual check valve for isolation on the meter output.

EXECUTION

1. INSTALLATION

A. Install all devices as required by code and the Authority Having Jurisdiction, and as recommended by the equipment manufacturer.

B. Location: Set meter in an accessible, unobstructed location. Coordinate meter location with the Port prior to installation.

C. Elevation: Top of meter shall be no more than 54 inches above finished floor.

D. Orientation: Meter shall be placed in horizontal piping with the display in the horizontal plane at the top of the meter.

E. Meter-Reading System Interface: Provide wall space for installation of a Port-furnished control panel for interface to the meter-reading system. Allow approximately 12" x 12" x 6". Provide a 120 VAC circuit for use by the Port to power the control panel.

F. Wiring: Coordinate connection of all wiring with other trades.

2. STARTUP AND TESTING

A. After installation is complete, test meter operation by flowing water and verifying that the RTR pulse output and dial output are functioning properly.
