666759525THE NEW HORIZON SCHOOL, W.L.L.KINGDOM OF BAHRAINSCHOOL POLICY FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2014-15NHS/ ADMIN/CIR/013/2014-1510th April, 2014Dear Parent,At the onset, I take this opportunity to welcome our dear students and their parents along with the staff to the new Academic Year 2014-15.We ring in the New Year with a renewed sense of commitment and vigour to brave the challenges and tasks. The relationship between the school, student and parent is a tri-partite arrangement with the School committed to providing a holistic environment to nurture young minds to seek, aspire and achieve. Parents should read, review and understand the School Policies that are listed in the School Diary. Circulars are issued from time to time as reminders/superceded versions of the directives, as the School is constantly innovating ways to enhance the operation and learning environment.A reminder on certain critical items are listed below to ensure a smooth operation in the New Academic Year.Fee Payments and Late Fees:We would like to re-iterate that the School accepts yearly advance payments for the benefit of parents who would like to exercise this option to claim one-time reimbursement of educational expenses from their employer or avoid the hassles of making monthly payment before the due dates. As stated in the diary the late fee, a fine of BHD 0.100/- (one hundred fils) is applicable for each day of delay after the stipulated date of 10th of every month. Since the fee accounts are completely computerised, the dues in full must be paid before the stipulated date. Any outstanding amount though it could be as small as a few fils will continue to attract the late fee of 100 fils per day till all balances are duly closed. Short/Long periods of absence from the School on any grounds, do NOT warrant an exemption or concession in tuition fees and/or bus fees and/or any stipulated payments. NHS Discipline and Tardiness PolicyParents are advised that children are watching and learning from their every actions and it is only by example you can be a good role model to your child/children, failing which all the hours spent in school inculcating values are futile. As per directives of the Ministry of Education, the School has implemented its Tardiness Policy in 2013 and its salient features are reiterated in the following sections.Punctuality and Attendance – in accordance with M.O.E. instructionsa. Punctuality and attendance cannot be tolerated or compromised. Students must reach the school at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time.b.Own Transport Students arriving late to the School (after 7:25 a.m.) will be marked LATE and those turning up after 8:30 a.m. will be marked ABSENT. c.Any student (mainly own transport) arriving beyond 7:25am in the School campus, will be given only 3 chances in a term. Parents of students who reach this limit will be asked to sign a pledge assuring immediate compliance. d.Please note the School provides transport to most locations across Bahrain, so repeated late arrival from students availing own transport, will warrant shifting the Child to School Transport for the benefit of the child. e.Any further non-compliance will lead to suspension of the student, which will be enforced very strictly. Penalties include Non-refund of Fees to students suspended for indiscipline and/or tardiness.4.Behavioural IssuesSchool is updating its discipline policy to address global issues such as bullying, vandalism, violence, indiscipline, damage to School property, disrespect to staff, students and country along with other aspects.
