Centers for Disease Control - UPDATE October 2013: Zombies have been sighted in central Georgia and are rumored to be heading into Coweta county. This particular strain of the Zombie

Virus is believed to have mutated from Bovine TB and may be spread through the native deer population. Boy Scouts are advised to seek shelter at the Emergency Zombie Survival

Area at camp Jim Stephens. Stay tuned to Emergency Broadcast Notices for further update. (Revile call to be broadcast on Saturday for wake up with siren)

NOTE: during activities 1 siren blast is to swap activities. Activity 10 will 5:00-5:30 and will include all troops at once at the large field around the flag pole. The troops assigned 1-6 in the morning will do 7-9 in the afternoon.

The troops assigned 7-9 in the morning will do 1-6 in the afternoon.

Activity 1: Zombie Rodeo Roping (“Knot master”)

(Sponsored by Troop 151)

Knot master- A minimum of two scouts for troop will be required to participate. The Scouts will be required to tie the following Scout Knots (Bowline, Sheet Bend, Clove Hitch, and Timber Hitch). One Scout will need to tie a timber hitch or Clove Hitch on a zombie carcass to pull it off. Meanwhile the second Scout ties a Bowline at the end of the rope around his waist to pull the zombie off. Correct knots and pulling carcass across the end line in quickest time wins. Judge’s decision is final.

(Activities 1 and 2 will be at the big field where one troop will oversee both. The upright two catapults will be built ahead of time to assure safety. However it would be a great opportunity to allow scouts prior to the event who do not have First class 7a b and 8a to work with the SM/SPL sponsoring these two events. Also Scouts needing Life 6e. could be used to show this to the younger scouts. The two catapults will allow a sense of completion between two troops/ patrols firing at one time. 60 minutes allotted for the two stations together.)

Activity 2: Zombie target practice

(Sponsored by Troop 151) Use a Scout catapult (built on site from provided materials) to hit target in front of hay bales. The catapult will fire small water balloons with dye. Three tries are allowed. The Troop gains points for accuracy. See Below.

[pic]

Activity 3: Zombie retirement basic skills training

(Sponsored by Troop 48) The event is the golden axe, silver bow saw and bronze hammer. The scouts will cut three stakes from a troop provided limb a foot in length. They will drive the three into the ground and using scout knots and four foot troop provided string connect the stakes into a triangle. Correct triangle and knots (only scout knots allowed) in quickest time wins. Judge’s decision is final

(Activities 3 and 4 will be at the campfire where one troop will oversee both. The triangles will be built first to assure safety and have a target for #4. However it would be a great opportunity to allow scouts prior to the event who do not have Tenderfoot 4 b, 2nd class 3c&d and 1st class 7b to work with the SM/SPL during these two events. Also Scouts needing Life 6e. could be used to show this to the younger scouts. The soda bags will be thrown from behind a “shield.” 60 minutes allotted for the two stations together.)

Activity 4: Distractions! EVERYONE knows Zombies are easily distracted.

No matter what the circumstances are. Come test your basic science skills. Make a Baking Soda and Vinegar Explosion

(Sponsored by Troop 48)

With this fun experiment, you will explore the explosive chemical interaction that takes place between the acid (acetic acid) in vinegar and the base (sodium bicarbonate) in baking soda. This experiment should be done outdoors to avoid causing a mess or potential damage indoors. The procedures for Zipper Baggie throw the baggie onto the ground triangle to create a “bomb.”

Activity 5: Zombie Buster sling shots: Another big hit, (literally)

(Sponsored by Troop 2193)

Scouts don’t use human shaped silhouettes, which included zombies as well. So pyramids of cans will be mounted on stumps 30 feet in front of the shooting position for the bulls-eye targets. If Scouts hit the cans one at a time it will be 2 points for each can. If they knock down the cans it will be 5 points total. The three firing position will utilize the Boy Scout sling shot. We will shot small animal food pellets. That way we will not have to pick them up. The raccoons, opossums and skunks will be probably real excited when we leave.

(Activities 5 and 6 will be next to the hunting lodge where one troop will oversee both. Activity 6 will be completed while waiting to do #5 or after completing #6 to assure a distance for safety from #5. 60 minutes allotted for the two stations together.)

Activity 6: Obtain Cure for Zombies Virus

(Sponsored by Troop 2193)

Combined teamwork to remove coffee can from center of circle using

ropes tied to a small inner-tube. Boys cannot cross rope circle. Best

time wins. Place plenty of distractions of extra poles, pipes and tools lying around.

Activity 7: Zombie Busters

(Sponsored by Troop?)

This is a Search and Rescue presentation by EMT, Firefighters, Rescue Unit, EMS unit and Scouts.

The classroom parts of Search and Rescue covering requirements 1-4 of Merit badge. One hour allotted

Activity 8: Zombie Evasion Training

(Sponsored by Troop?)

This is a Search and Rescue presentation by EMT, Firefighters, Rescue Unit, EMS unit and Scouts.

The classroom parts of Search and Rescue covering requirements 6-9 of Merit badge. One hour allotted

Activity 9: Saved from being a Zombie

(Sponsored by Troop?)

Completion of Hasty search requirement of Search and Rescue (requirements 8-9)

Activity 10: Zombie Evasion Course

Zombie Run! (Fun): The Zombie Outbreak Response Team and the Zombie Attack Tactical Unit have taught you everything you need to know to help find the solution to the Rise of The Zombies. There is only one thing left to do, run for your life! Individuals will try to avoid the Zombie horde while staying in the course boundaries. During this timed event the Zombies of all kinds will try to initiate new members of the Horde utilizing their virus bags. If it hits you join the horde.

Activity 11: Zombie Brain Ghouls’ lash

The Goulash must have the following beef, noodles, potatoes, and tomatoes. After the spring camporee and the rebellion (revulsion?) of the judges- it must be eatable.

Will be judged on the following qualitative rules:

Taste-50 points- This is minimum Mike Bates and Mike Warren will allow.

Presentation- 40 percent (Iron chef rules)

Adherence to theme- 10 percent- ingredients have to be identifiable.
