for Circle of Friends sessions

Animal Pairs

(Resources: cards with animal names/pictures)

Each player is given a card with the name of an animal on it. If the name is written in red the player must make the appropriate noise of the animal. If the name is written in blue the player must make the appropriate action of the animal. Once they have found their partner they must sit down.

All Those

Players sit in a circle around the room with the leader and no spare chair in the circle. The leader call out ‘All those who…are wearing blue socks…have brown hair…like chocolate’. Any player who this applies to must get up and change seats with another player who it also applies to. The leader tries to take a seat so a new player is left in the middle and again calls ‘All those…’.

Passing Race

(Resources: two different coloured balloons/balls)

Group A and Group B sit alternately in a circle so that each player has a member of the opposing team on either side. Starting from opposite sides of the circle the members of each team pass their coloured balloon/ball around their own team by reaching across their opponents. The winning team is the one whose balloon/ball catches up with that of their opponents.

Doing the Opposite

Players sit in a circle with the leader on a chair in the middle. Those in the circle must do the opposite of what the leader does. For example, sit when the leader is standing and stand when the leader is sitting.

King of Silence

The leader sits on a chair in front of the other players. The leader starts pointing at individuals to come and sit nearby without making a noise. Players get sent back to their chair if they make a noise. The game ends when everyone is sitting next to the leader.

Variation: Make the players do other things before they sit down e.g. dance or go the long way round.
