Weekly News from BBMS!

Dear BBMS Families,

We are excited to share with you news from our Math Counts team. This year, BBMS launched a math team under the direction of coaches Ms. Cao, Ms. Clark and Ms. Varlotta. They meet after school to practice and this weekend they competed in a regional competition at the McDonogh School. BBMS went up against teams from HCPSS, Baltimore County, Baltimore City and local Private Schools.

Two BBMS students qualified for states on Saturday: Peter Banyas (8th Grade) and Iris Xu (6th Grade). We are so excited for them!

This is a great accomplishment for a team in its first year of competition!

Please let us know if you have any questions about how your son or daughter can get involved.

Next on the agenda for our students is MAP testing - this week students will take their MAP Reading test. Next week will be MAP Math. Results are immediate and are one way to see if students are on track to be successful in high school courses and on future tests like the PSAT or SAT. We hope all of our students show growth and meet their grade level benchmark.

And finally, we want to bring your attention to a few school-wide events that are coming up soon at BBMS and hope to see many parents and students attend:

February 7 - Music with the Sharks @ 7pm February 7 - PTA meeting @ 7pm February 21 - Poetry Slam @ 6pm February 22 - Straight A's Celebration @ 2:30pm February 23 - Snow Ball Dance sponsored by the PTA @ 6:30 to 8:30pm March 16 - BBMS International Night! Save the Date!

Go Sharks!
