• Meeting started at 1:05 P.M.

• K. Dryden: Announced Safety Committee meetings would be scheduled every 4th month beginning July, 2009. The next meeting will be Thursday, July 30th. Also, at future meetings attendees will be called upon to discuss their respective departments safety programs.

• K. Dryden: Encouraged attendees to do analysis of accidents within their departments. It was noted that Judy Little in the Safety Office can assist with the analysis process. More emphasis needs to be placed on employees who are more frequently involved in accidents, as well as accident types and locations.

• K. Dryden: Presented non-uniformed accident statistics for 2008. It was noted there was a 19% increase in accidents since 2007 and a 52% increase since 2006. DPW and R&P accounted for 86% of all non- uniformed accidents in 2008.

• T. Miller: Noted some employees are not completing the MVA accident report as required. Anytime a vehicle accident occurs the employee must complete the MVA report no matter how minor the event, Supervisors must also complete the Supervisor Report.

• T.Miller: Classes will be held at the Training Academy, April 7-8-9, 2009 for employees who want to volunteer to be instructors in CPR.

• K. Nauman: Announced that SWM is designating a departmental employee to serve as an in-house safety rep who will work closely with both supervision and the Safety Office.

• R. Zambrowski: Reported there are proposed changes at the Federal level re seat time for CDL training. This topic will be discussed in more detail at a future safety committee meeting. Also, on equipment review paperwork, only the last four digits of the SSN are required.

• J. DeLucia: Noted police reports are required for calls made to the police involving county accidents. If a police report is not forthcoming contact the County Claims

Office x 8230.

• J.Ripley: Inquired which county agencies should be contacted re air quality issues. He was advised that depending upon the circumstances it could be the Safety office, DEPRM, Bldg. Services, or the Fire Dept.
