Creditors that do not work with us as of 8/3/11

Ineligible Unsecured DebtACCC does not have a minimum balance requirement; however, we need to make sure it is in the client’s best interest to add the account instead of paying it on their own. Adding multiple small-balanced accounts may cause the total DMP payment to be unaffordable when the better option is to have the client pay them outside the DMP.When we know a creditor will not work with us it is put in the database and statused as a creditor who does not work with us. You will be able to see the creditor but when you pick one of these creditors it will show a message that says “This creditor does not work with DMP. You cannot select it. Changes will not be saved.” Types of Unsecured Debt Ineligible for the DMP:Business Accounts (most)*Collection Accounts for Bounced Checks Law Firms (once legal action has been initiated)**Payday LoansPhone Service (even if the account is in collections, unless Midland Credit)Student/School LoansTax BillsUtility Bills (even if the account is in collections, unless Midland Credit) Exception: Yes to Midland Credit Management (aka Midland Funding, MCM) MCM is a debt-buyer and they do not sell their accounts.? We can accept all Midland accounts on the DMP, regardless of the original creditor.*How to determine if the Client has a Business Account: If the account is with a major bank and does not appear on the client’s credit report, this is a good indicator that the account may be a business account. Ask the client if the account is a business account. Most of our creditors do not accept proposals on Business Accounts, with the exception of Advanta Bank and Bank of America (only if mask number matches).? If the account number does not match the mask number in our system then we will not be able to add the account.? If the mask number matches and it is a business account you need to let the client know that we will try to set the account up on the DMP program, but there is no guarantee that it will be accepted.? **How to determine if Legal Accounts are Eligible: When clients request to add Legal Accounts to the DMP we must:Ask about legal proceedings for any account being handled by attorneys. Once a client has been served with a summons to appear in court we cannot assist them with the debt.Ask the client if they already have an agreement with a specified payment plan in place. If they do, enter this amount as the ‘Actual Payment’, also enter a comment with the payment amount. Advise the client that even though we will send payments on their behalf:Collection activities may still continue. The client could still be sued for the debt.If they do receive court summons, they will need to go to court regardless of whether we are paying on these accounts. ................
