Secretary’s Report: Kathi Wickham – A correction was made to the note on the concession stand inspection. It should refer to the indoor stand, not the outdoor stand. A motion was made to accept the January ’09 minutes; it was seconded and the minutes were unanimously approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Sue Sinagra - The treasurer’s report for January was distributed. Sue is still looking into money market accounts at other banks due to drop in interest rate at the credit union. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report; it was seconded and the report was unanimously approved.
Banquets & Awards: Donna Marino – The next banquet is 3/20. Donna will be out of town; she asked for someone to help at 4 p.m. until she returned. Donna also asked for someone to consider partnering with her for next year, as she will be a senior parent. The partner could take over the following year.

Dragon Duals: The concessions were well-run, with good food and a great menu. Some ideas of things to change for next year include lining up the serving tables away from the overhead fans; continue to sell during clean-up (made over $150 after we were closed). Sharon Riley requested that Cheerleading Group be assigned that event next year for concessions.
Winter Concessions – Take note of the dates and try to get your volunteers lined up early. Please be sure to have at least 4 volunteers per team, and be there 2 hours prior to the start of the game.

Old Business:
Concessions: There is a big difference in business when there is a basketball game and swim or wrestling practice on the same night. The volunteers are doing a great job, including cleaning up the gym after games.
New Business:
Spirit Night: Donna Marino – This is a big night. There are more people attending than at a regular basketball game, including players from the middle school, Prof Gallito. The Dance Team is present. Concessions will be much busier.
Concession Stand – Having a cash box with bill separators would be helpful. We have been looking at various ways to prepare the mozzarella sticks and nachos/cheese.
On Sat. 2/7 WWMS has their wrestling tournament at MHS. They can’t use their gym due to water damage. They will use our concession stand, but they’ll bring their own supplies.
Sat. 2/14 there is a basketball event. John Geary has contacted us about also using our concession stand area.
2/21 there may be a Girls Basketball conference game. 2/28 there may be a Boys Basketball conference game. Concessions will be open these nights. If they are scheduled, Bob will contact us for volunteers. We will also conduct a 50/50 raffle, with the proceeds going to the Balsamo Scholarship Fund. The goal is to have 4 $500 scholarships for some seniors.
Mike has offered the use of MHS gym to CIAC for some games. This is another possibility for concession income.
On 3/27 the Rotary Club is sponsoring a basketball tournament with teams and players from throughout Middlesex County. Girls play @5:30 and boys play @ 7:00.
Ron Brown (of Prof. Gallitto) approached MHS Booster Club about serving at their end of season banquet (as a fundraiser). Bob will ask if boys and girls would be combined in the same night. If we were to sell meals at $10-12/person, we could make about $3/person profit. It was suggested that they use WWMS cafeteria as it’s easier to manage serving lines. We would need at least 20 volunteers.
Project Graduation: Project Grad is soliciting donations. Last year the Booster Club contributed $500. A motion was made and seconded for the MHS Booster Club to contribute $500 to Project Graduation. It was approved unanimously.
2/28- Multiple events:
The date of a possible Boys Basketball quarter final is also the date of the Musical performance. We will need to utilize all parking lots and post signs to direct people. Bob will speak with Mike.
Outdoor Track Invitational:
The question was posed as to whether there is a track invitational event this year. This is always a big concession event. We should know more for the next meeting.
Next Meeting: The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 4, 2009 @ 7:00pm.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. It was unanimously approved.
Respectfully Submitted,
Kathi Wickham, Secretary
