Location:

LHBC broke ground 60 years ago in the City of Layton, Utah, which is located approx. 30 miles north of Salt Lake City. Layton is nestled between the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch Mountain Range and is home to Hill Air Force Base. We experience four seasons and some of the most beautiful country in America. Majestic mountain scenery and colorful sunsets are common here in the West. It is the ultimate outreach and mission field in the United States, with less than 2% of the population composed of Evangelical Christians.

Position Title: Pastor

Ministry Characteristics:

The Pastor must be a man who is called and directed by God, and exhibits the Godly character qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; 2 Timothy 4:2-5; Ephesians 4:11-13; Titus 1:6-9; 1 Peter 5:2-3 and Acts 6:4 The Pastor shall have reasoning ability, use sound judgment and be open to ideas, be flexible and adaptable. He has integrity, is approachable and friendly. He deals with conflict directly, openly, graciously and immediately. He shepherds the church surrounding himself with strong Godly leaders, whose gifts strengthen his own, while encouraging them to grow by developing their God given gifts.

Required Experience/Skills:

• He shall be experienced in full time pastoral ministry in a Southern Baptist Church preferably for at least five years, a college graduate, and a seminary graduate.

• He shall exhibit a passion for God; have a Christ-like spirit and compassion for people. These qualities will be evidenced in his personal life, his family relationships, and his ministry.

• He shall have demonstrated his belief that the Bible is God's (inerrant, infallible) Word and that he submits to the Bible as his absolute authority in preparing to preach and teach.

• He shall nurture his Christian walk through a disciplined life of daily fellowship with God in prayer and Bible study.

• He should have the capacity to envision the future and its possibilities and possess the leadership skills necessary to disciple members and equip them to lead other to Christ

• He shall be in agreement with LHBC's By-Laws and support the SBC Baptist Faith and Message (1963 Edition).

Ministry Duties:

• He must pray, study, and prepare himself to preach and teach the word of God.

• Prayer must be a central theme of his ministry.

• The pastor shall have in his care the spiritual and moral welfare of the congregation and serve as a counselor for members on personal and spiritual matters.

• He must plan and coordinate effectively with the Deacons, Leadership and Ministry Teams and the Congregation. He will be accountable to provide regular reports at Deacon and Leadership Team and Church Business meetings.

• He will visit the sick and conduct outreach to visitors.

• He shall be able to evangelize, disciple, and counsel people of all ages, backgrounds and understandings on personal and spiritual needs.

• He shall maintain emphasis upon discipleship, missions, and outreach within the ministry of LHBC; personally involving himself in reaching others and sharing the gospel.

• He should be a man who listens and communicates well with people both inside and outside the church. He should be able to communicate the Scriptures to encourage and enable the growth of all believers.

• He shall be an ex-officio, non-voting member of all teams, departments and committees.

The congregation at LHBC vests leadership to the united agreement of the Pastor, Deacons, Leadership team, and the Congregation whom the Spirit has led. We are servants who labor together for the "Glory" of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
