The church Minister of Missions’ basic job is to provide leadership for a church’s missions ministries. This person reports directly to the senior pastor, and is responsible for leading in the development and implementation of comprehensive missions ministries. This involves discovering missions opportunities and developing a long-range plan with goals, strategies, and action plans. The church Minister of Missions oversees all ministries relating to the Church Missions Development Council, including enlisting, training, and supervising staff for needed ministries. The church Minister of Missions also supervises budget development and expenditures of budgeted and other funds.
Basic Job Assignment
1. Give general administration to the church’s missions ministries.
2. Enlist and train leaders to staff all ministries.
3. Develop a total church evangelism planning strategy for the entire church and work to make every missions ministry evangelistic.
4. Give general administrative leadership to all lay led mission projects and trips
5. Provide general supervision for all paid and volunteer staff.
6. Be a friend, consultant, and mentor to all mission/church pastors.
7. Supervise a reporting system that reflects accountability.
8. Work with leaders of churches, missions, indigenous satellite churches, and ministry programs to ensure that reports are made.
9. Work closely with project directors in planning, implementing, monitoring, and solving problems that relate to projects.
10. Work with pastors, projects directors, and other leaders in conducting growth reviews for all churches, missions, and indigenous satellite churches. Work with ministry staff; project directors; and associational, state convention, and North American Mission Board leaders in church growth and effective reviews. Provide monthly reports as required on each project.
11. Respond positively to other assignments given by the pastor.
