CHURCH COVENANT
Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and, upon the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of the Church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings; to avoid all tattling; backbiting and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove this place we will as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s word.

Aims for Ministry Leaders
“The 70 Disciples came back very happy. They Said, “Lord, even demons obey us when we use the power and authority of your name!” Luke 10: 17
When we recognize Him as the focus of our ministries, the execution of this Church Annual Program will be successful.
1. Accentuate the positive, But because the God who called you is holy you must be holy in every aspect of your life. (1 Peter 1: 15) NKJV
2. Make a personal commitment to expose the Word of God to as many individuals as
possible. Bring at least one visitor each week to Bible Study, Sunday School, Worship Service or all. He must be devoted to the trustworthy message we teach. Then he can use these accurate teachings to encourage people and correct those who oppose the word. (Titus 1:9) NKJV
3. Gather contact information on those individuals whom you encounter for follow – up. Submit all gathered information (name, address, phone number) to the Director of and Membership Services. We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming.
(Hebrews 10:25) NKJV
4. Ministry meetings should include discussion on the most effective manner of
reaching the unsaved as much as possible. Sing to the Lord! Praise His Name!
Day after day announce that the Lord saves His people. Tell people about His glory. (Psalm 96: 2) NKJV
5. Increase the numerical, spiritual and financial support of your group.
6. Schedule regular meetings with a prepared agenda. Minutes and financial reports are mandatory for each ministry.
7. Officers and Ministry leaders shall attend Church School, Second, Sunday Leadership meetings, Worship Service and Bible Study on a regular basis. Encourage your group members to do the same.
8. Make the partaking of the Lord’s Supper on the First Sunday’s a priority.
9. Officers and Ministry Leaders are expected to lead by example.
10. Prepare for Bible Study and Sunday School. Familiarity with scripture strengthens your faith. With true understanding of God’s Word, we can sincerely appreciate the grace and mercy He gives us unconditionally.
11. Prayer shall be a prerequisite for each ministry gathering.
Guidelines for 2011 For All Ministries
• Working with the Directors of Christian Education, complete your ministry job descriptions, vision and purpose statements making sure they align with the church vision and purpose statement.
• Ministry Leaders, identify a way to share and teach your ministry the ministry description. (Updates will be shared in CEMC meetings.)
• Set goals to enhance: Worship, Ministry, Evangelism, Fellowship, Edification (Updates will be shared in CEMC meetings.)
• Plan a way to achieve these goals.
• Plan according to your tasks, vision and purpose statements.
• Ministries such as Men’s, Women’s Singles, Couples, Young Adult, and Drug and Alcohol are to be ever mindful that while we deal with issues affecting the lives of fellow Christians, our focus on evangelism should prompt us to consider that there are non – Christians who are faced with some of the same issues. Let us make every effort to include these individuals when ever and where ever possible.
• Submit proposals for planning brand new events and activities to the church secretary who will give them to the Director of Christian Education.
• Submit Special Event forms for events the ministry plans to repeat. Please submit these No later than September 14, 2011 to the Director of Christian Education for the next calendar year.
• Special Events forms do not need to be submitted for Annual Youth, Men’s, Women’s, Church Anniversary, Vacation Bible School. They will automatically be scheduled at their usual times.
• All events are to be scheduled on the church calendar and must be approved by the Pastor
and / or the Director of Christian Education. Then they will be scheduled on the church
calendar.
• Limit the number of “major” events you sponsor to allow each ministry the opportunity to play a role in supporting the church vision and purpose. Focus on evangelism, ministry, worship, and edification, if you do those, fellowship will be addressed because you will be fighting the same battles. While 12 months is a long time, it isn’t when there are over a dozen ministries of the church. The Philippians 2:4 says, “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others”.
• Ministry’s need to make quarterly, bimonthly reports to CEMC (Christian Education Ministry of Canaan) to make sure information is communicated.
• Plan activities related to your ministry job description, vision and purpose statement that are related to the development of our overall goals related to evangelism, evangelism training, relationships and ministry to families.
• Use appropriate forms for ministry planning, budget planning, etc. Submit copies to the office for delivery to the Directors of Christian Education.
• Devise and implement plans to increase participation in your ministry. (Updates will be shared in CEMC meetings.)
• Devise creative ways to advertise events beyond flyers and announcements during church services. Create advertising to target the audience you want. Put all announcements in the bulletin. The deadline to submit announcements is Wednesday night before Sunday.
• Bulk mailings must be prepared and ready to go a minimum of ten (10) days before you want it delivered.
• Information for advertising shall be submitted 2 months in advance.
