Unified Psychotherapy Project (UPP) & Psychotherapedia. (01/09 – present)

Founder of Unified Psychotherapy Project, and Co-Director with Steven Sobleman. UPP is an internet-based project that is advancing the field of unified clinical science and psychotherapeutics. Psychotherapedia has been developed to begin to catalogue the techniques and methods of psychotherapy. A task force has been developed to assist in the process and create a database for use by clinicians and researchers. Educational material is being developed for use by psychotherapists and available at

Psychologist. (4/84 - present). Founder, clinical and administrative director of multidisciplinary group practice. Duties include providing individual, marital and family psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. Also perform psychodiagnostic services including contract to evaluate prospective priests and deacons in the Episcopal Church and Police Candidates.

Manchester Memorial Hospital

• Psychological Consultant. Department of Psychiatry (10 hours per week). 2/84-6/86. Consultant to Department of Psychiatry in General Hospital with specialized psychiatric services. Duties included participation in inpatient unit management committee, psychological consultation to treatment teams, education, supervision of psychology students, psychological screening tests, quality assurance and organizational consultation to management group. Also organized and chaired research committee.

Elmcrest Psychiatric Institute

• Unit Chief/Psychologist. (Saybrook Unit). 10/83-10-84. Supervision of clinical program on a newly developed 15-bed child unit (ages 9-12). In addition to duties described below, was an active member of adolescent service management group and made community presentations to announce program and for community service.

• Chairperson of Education Committee—12/83-10/84. Responsible for coordinating and planning hospital educational programs. Initiated a monthly grand rounds program and monthly outside speaker for clinical education. Maintained documentation for JCAH accreditation of educational activities. As chairperson of Education Committee participated in hospital management group.

• Senior Clinician/Psychologist (Portland Unit), 6/83-10/83. Supervision of clinical program on a 23-bed inpatient adolescent unit. Responsibilities included supervision of three treatment teams, performance evaluations and supervision. Conducted pre-admission screenings to determine appropriate admissions, coordinated discharges and intake evaluations. Other duties included directing clinical service and consultation with nursing staff regarding unit management. Psychology Department responsibilities included supervision and training of Clinical Psychology interns and practicum students.

• Clinical Administrator/Staff Psychologist (Portland Unit), 8/81-6/83. Leader of multi-disciplinary treatment team on inpatient adolescent unit. Responsible for case management, development of treatment plans and providing direct clinical service, including family, multiple family, group and individual psychotherapy, sociotherapy and behavior modification. Also, supervision of interns in APA approved pre-doctoral internship and practicum students.
