Barista Job Responsibilities:

Promotes product consumption of both food and drink by educating customers; prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, as well as baked goods and sandwiches; promote art and other consignment items; keep the atmosphere at Agora Downtown pleasant, friendly, and clean.

Barista Job Duties:

• Welcome customers with enthusiasm and individualized attention by determining their interests and needs

• Educate customers by presenting and explaining the drink menu and answering questions

• Prepare and sell drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee, non-coffee, and alcoholic drinks

• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bar supply; stocking cups, condiment accessories, pre-made drinks such as lemonade and ice tea, and other supplies

• Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations

• Accurately handle money transactions and operate the Point of Sale system cash register in a friendly and courteous manner

• Be able to handle high volume and having many drinks to make accurately and quickly

• Prioritize time by cleaning the coffee shop, restocking, and doing walk-throughs during slower periods

• Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greeting, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders.

• Be able to maintain a friendly and polite composure regardless of the situation

• Inform manager/owner of any operational inconsistencies, safety hazards, accidents, or anything else that might need attention

• Actively keeping an eye on amount of dirty dishes and washing dishes as needed

• Wishing customers well as they leave

Requirements and Physical demands:

Entry-level position

Regularly required to handle hot food and beverages
