STONHAM BARNS ENTREPRENEUR CHALLENGE COMPETITION RULES

Stonham Barns is an established leisure destination located in the heart of Mid-Suffolk. It has a wide variety of retail shops and visitor attractions. Some of the onsite attractions include an indoor soft play area, fishing lakes, pirate themed adventure golf and an owl and bird of prey visitor centre.

The venue is also home to the Stonham Barns Showground and the newly built AMP Theatre, offering visitors numerous shows and events throughout the year.

The Competition:

Stonham Barns are offering the opportunity to pitch a business proposal to a panel of judges to win a £5,000 investment into the business and six months free rent in one of its pod units, within the retail market square at Stonham Barns.

The judges will include Suffolk businessman and owner of Stonham Barns Alan Forward, Jonathan Few, director and CEO of plant hire, aggregates and haulage company J T Few Limited, and Member of Parliament for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich Dr Daniel Poulter MP.

Competition rules and guidelines

1. All applicants proposals must undertake a commitment to operate their business from Stonham Barns, whether this is to operate as the sole business address, or part of a separate operating arm or process.

2. The competition will accept all forms of business ideas and proposals, whether these are at the concept, start-up stage. or are an existing trading business.

3. The winner will receive an investment prize of £5,000 and the first six months of the premise’s occupation rent free. (excludes business rates, utility bills, telephone and broadband set-up).

4. The winner of the competition will be initially entering into an unwritten agreement that depends on due diligence checks, and relies on the integrity of both the owner of Stonham Barns and entrepreneur to freely enter into a mutually acceptable final agreement for tenancy. Upon agreement between both sides, a contract will be signed and the investment prize transferred to the winner. If an agreement cannot be reached, neither party is legally obliged to complete the deal.

5. A Completed application form must be submitted in the first instance. Those selected to present their idea or business to the judging panel will be contacted in advance and a timeslot will be agreed. All applicant’s forms received will be replied to.

6. By entering into the competition, the winner agrees to allow Stonham Barns to use all film or photography of the applicant for promotional purposes on their website or social media platforms and/or public relations exercises. Any such content shall be with the full consent of the winner.

7. The winner understands that they may be approached directly by other media organisations such as local press, TV or radio stations. Any such approach between the winner and a media company, should be made known to Stonham Barns PR officer, who may act as advisers on any such approach.

8. All applicants must be available to present, if selected, on Friday 29th March 2019.

Deadline for applications to be submitted is Friday 15th March 2019 by 5.00pm. Any applications received after this date will not be considered.

All applications are processed the same way. To be considered, all candidates need to submit an application form. Only those shortlisted will be asked to present to the judging panel. All applications received will be replied to regardless of the outcome.
