What is a salesman permit?

a. A salesman permit is for:

i. A person who procures, or seeks to procure an order or contract for the sale, or for the delivery, or for the transportation of alcoholic beverages; and

ii. A person who is engaged in promoting the sale of alcoholic beverages, or in promoting the business of a person engage in the alcoholic beverage trade in any manner… (IC 7.1-1-3-41).

b. The term does not include a server or bartender at a restaurant or an employee at a package liquor store. If you need a permit to work as a server or bartender at a restaurant or an employee at a package liquor store, you must apply for an employee permit.

Creating an account and logging in

1. Creating an account and logging in

a. Visit .

b. Enter your username and password. If you do not know your username and password, click on the Register a person link on the left menu and follow the instructions.

Applying for a new permit

a. If you do not have an existing permit, click Register a Person on the left panel. If you have an existing license in the system, log in and skip to step d.

b. Enter you date of birth and social security number.

c. Enter required information for first time applicants and click Save.

d. Click Initial Application on the left panel.

e. Enter the following information and click Start Application:

a. Profession: Alcoholic Beverage

b. License Type: Salesman

c. Obtained by Method: Application

f. Review and click Next Step

g. Review your contact information and click Edit if incorrect or Complete if correct.

h. On the Employer Information page, click Add.

i. Enter the following information and click Search:

a. Relationship Type: Employer/Employee

b. Profession: Alcoholic Beverage

c. License Type: Enter the license type for your employer. If you don’t know the license type, you can search for it at .

d. License number: Enter the license number for your employer. If you don’t know the license number, you can search for it at .

j. Select the correct permit type from the list.

k. If the employer information appears correct, click complete.

l. Read and answer the renewal questions. Then click Confirm.

m. Verify all of the information is correct and click Pay Fees.

n. Review the fees and click Pay Fees.

o. Enter you billing address information and click Next.

p. Enter credit card information and click Next.

q. Verify credit card information and click Submit Payment.

r. A pop up will appear indicating that your payment is being processed. Do not close the tab or window, and do not use the browser’s Back button.

s. After the payment is processed, you will see receipt information indicating the renewal has been submitted. Click Print Receipt if you wish to print the receipt.

Renewing a permit

a. Select Renew License on the left menu.

b. Click Continue.

c. Read the instructions and click Next Step.

d. Verify the address is correct. If you need to update the address, click Edit. If the address is correct, click Complete. NOTE: It is your responsibility to keep your address current with the Alcohol and Tobacco Commission. License documents will be mailed to the address provided.

e. Verify that the wholesaler or manufacturer listed as employer is correct. If the wholesaler or manufacturer moved locations or obtained a new permit number, click Change. If the information is correct, click Complete. Note: A different salesman permit is required for each wholesaler or manufacturer. The only exception to this is a beer wholesaler and wine wholesaler or a liquor wholesaler and wine wholesaler operated by the same permit holder.

f. Change: After clicking Change, select the Employer permit to be changed and enter all of the following information:

a. Profession: Must be Alcoholic Beverage.

b. License Type: You must enter the license type. If you do not know the license type, you can search for the license type at . You must choose from:

i. Artisan Distiller

ii. Brewer

iii. Brewer – Small

iv. Distiller

v. Farm Winery

vi. Primary Source

vii. Rectifier

viii. Wholesaler – Beer

ix. Wholesaler – Liquor

x. Wholesaler – Micro Wine

xi. Wholesaler – Wine

xii. Wine Vintner

c. License number: Enter the license number. The license number must match the permit type.

g. Click the correct permit. Note: A salesman permit can only be linked to a permit with an active status.

h. Verify the pending change is correct and click Complete. If the pending change it not correct, click Undo.

i. Read and answer the renewal questions. Then click Confirm.

j. Verify all of the information is correct and click Pay Fees.

k. Review the fees and click Pay Fees.

l. Enter you billing address information and click Next.

m. Enter credit card information and click Next.

n. Verify credit card information and click Submit Payment.
