Pre-Season Dinners (1 per team)

Varsity, JV and C-team pre-season dinner are being planned - hosts are needed.

Team Lunches (monthly)

Monthly game-day lunches (1 or 2 times per month), are being planned (by team - Varsity, JV and C-team). The purpose is to promote player bonding and team building. Parents who sponsor a lunch could bring in pizza for the boys.

Movie Nights (by team)

Monthly movie nights for the boys in a player’s home are being planned.

Team Committees

Committee member contact information is listed on the team website. Committee members will have monthly committee meetings.

Issue Resolution

If a player has a baseball or team-related issue, resolutions steps are as follows:

1) The player should discuss the issue with their team’s coach (Varsity, JV or C-team).

2) If that doesn’t resolve the issue, the parent can meet with the player’s coach and Coach Karsh

3) If that doesn’t resolve it, the parent and coach can meet with Bill Ewing (East Athletic Director)

4) The next step is to meet with Principal, Andy Mendelsberg

Committee members are available to help with the resolution process as needed.

Equipment

Discounts are available through Bobby Blazer at Sportline (303) 421-6751. Bobby can offer at least team rates and sometimes better-than-team rates. Sportline is located at 65th and Wadsworth. Players and parents must call Mr. Blazer first to schedule a time to meet at Sportline. Do not just show up at the store and expect a discount.

No red spikes will be allowed – black or predominantly black spikes are acceptable.

Transportation

Varsity players will not take busses to road games. They will drive themselves, ride with teammates or ride with a parent.

JV and C-team players will take busses to road games – with the exception of Saturday games. Transportation for Saturday games is the responsibility of JV and C-team players and their parents.

All busses will leave on time. If a player is late, the bus will leave without them.

If a JV or C-team player takes a school bus to the game, parents wishing to take their son home from the game must notify the player’s coach 24 hours in advance. This is a scheduling and accountability issue.

Eligibility (grades)

2 Fs in a given week will result in a player being ineligible the entire following week.

Funerals and unforeseen medical emergencies which result in a player receiving 2 Fs must be reviewed by Bill Ewing (East Athletic Director). HE will determine eligibility in these cases.

Players receiving an F or a D must attend study hall the entire following week (Monday through Thursdays) at the appointed time, generally for 1 hour before practice.

Playing time

Playing time is merit based. Nobody sits at the Varsity level. At the C-team level all kids play (maybe not evenly). JV is more merit based, but all kids will play as well.

3 Promises

Players are promised the following:

1) A great education – if they apply themselves

2) They’ll learn how to play baseball the right way

3) They’ll be treated right

Hazing/Bullying

Hazing and/or bullying will not be tolerated. If a player is hazed or bullied they should report it directly to Coach Karsh (not their individual team coach if they are on the C team or JV team.)

Handouts

The following handouts were available to attendees:

Signup sheets

Sportline business cards

Team schedules

East High Baseball hats ($26) and 2 styles of T-shirts ($12 each) were available for sale.

Weather

If it’s raining or snowing and it’s during the school day, players should check with Coach Karsch regarding cancellations (practices and games).

Medical Needs

Coach Karsh tracks epi-pens and meds.

All coaches are CPR and 1st aid certified

Players with concussions will not play.

Lisa Smith is our team trainer.

Citizenship

Players caught with drugs will serve a 5 game suspension for a 1st infraction. Players caught a 2nd time will be suspended for the remainder of the season.

Practice Times

Generally, weekday practices will be 3:15 to 6 pm, weather permitting. Practices will also be held every Saturday (times to be announced). No Sunday practices.

Spring Break

No games will be held during spring break.

Summer Baseball

Summer baseball begins the 3rd week in May. Games begin June 1st. Coach Karsh needs to know family vacation plans at the beginning of summer baseball.

Summer tournaments are finished by the last day of July.

Regis College Baseball Outing

Plans are in the works for the players to attend a Regis University baseball game so they can see what the next level of competition looks like.
