Course Title: SLOW & EASY COMPUTERS – LEVEL 1

Course Description: A short hands-on course at a slow and easy pace for beginners in a small class environment to learn basic skills in using your computer. Learn computer terminology and understand computer storage. Learn to use the mouse and keyboard more effectively. Learn how to navigate in Windows and use Windows applets such as Calculator, Notepad, Paint and WordPad. Learn how to create, retrieve, save, and print files. Required: text and USB drive. Prerequisite: The PC Beginners Mouse workshop or equivalent experience.

Required: text and USB drive. Prerequisite: Slow & Easy Computers Level 1 class or equivalent experience.

Course Title: COMPUTERS – LEVEL 1

Course Description: The hands-on course for beginners to learn basic skills in using your computer. Learn computer terminology and understand computer storage. Learn to use the mouse and keyboard more effectively. Navigate in Windows more easily and use Windows applets such as Calculator, Notepad, Paint and WordPad. Learn to create, retrieve, save, and print files. Learn how to navigate on the Internet, use a web site, and how to send and receive email. Learn to view, print and save a web page. Course Title: COMPUTERS – LEVEL 2

Course Description: A beginning hands-on course to learn additional basic skills in using your computer. Learn to search on the Internet, save your results, create favorites, and how to send and receive email attachments. Use Word to create letters or lists, use move and copy, save and print files. Learn to manage files and folders and delete files safely. Required: text and USB drive. Prerequisite: Computers – Level 1 class or equivalent experience.

Course Title: COMPUTER LAB/INDEPENDENT PROJECTS

This is an opportunity for current students to increase your computer knowledge at your own speed and time in our computer lab, dropping in to one class or to several in a quarter. Use the lab to enhance what you have learned in our classes, which range from Computers Level 1 to Excel to Photoshop Elements, or just to practice using a computer and programs with a teacher one-on-one, nearby to help you. Bring in projects you may be working on at home or ideas for projects you would like to try as a result of what you learned in our classes for some hands-on assistance.

Course Title: INTRODUCTION TO APPLE iPAD

In a hands-on or demonstration format, learn the basics of your iPad. Get comfortable with the buttons and switches of an iPad. Use gestures to navigate between various touch screens. Interact with your iPad using a keyboard, voice, and Siri. Set up network, email and account settings. Communicate with others. Download applications and use the calendar, notes and reminders, news, maps, books and other apps. Browse web pages, bookmark sites, and copy text or images from web pages. Bring your iPad to class for hands-on practice. Required: text. Prerequisite: Computers – Level 1 class or equivalent experience.

Course Title: INTERNET & EMAIL

In a hands-on format, learn how to more effectively search for web sites and research information. Bookmark sites for later use; create tabs; and copy text or images from web pages. Protect your computer while online. Conduct business online and fill in forms. Send and receive email and with attachments. Setup an address book or contact list. Required: text and USB drive. Prerequisite: Computers – Level 2 class or equivalent experience.

Course Title: INTERNET 2

In a hands-on format, learn to use the Internet more successfully in this short course. Use advanced search techniques and tools. Organize your email. Share your photos and other files with others. Use social media, chat or messaging services. Required: text and USB drive. Prerequisite: Internet & Email class or equivalent experience.

Course Title: WORD 1

In a hands-on format, become familiar with the Ribbon and new interface. Learn how to create, save, and open various types of documents. Edit and format those documents using several techniques including copy and paste, find and replace, tabs and indents, tables, and Format Painter. Proof, preview and prepare those documents for printing. Required: text and USB drive. Prerequisite: Computers – Level 2 class or equivalent experience.

Course Title: EXCEL 1

In a hands-on format, learn how to create, save and open spreadsheets. Prepare functions and formulas to calculate totals, averages, and do basic math. Edit and format those spreadsheets using several techniques including copy and paste, merge and split cells, insert and delete rows or columns, border and fill. Create charts. Proof, preview and prepare spreadsheets for printing. Required: text and USB drive. Prerequisite: Computers – Level 2 class or equivalent experience.

Course Title: DIGITAL PHOTOS 1

Work with your own camera hands-on to get more comfortable with those buttons and features. Download your images for storage and to share with others. Optimize images for Internet use and printing. Learn to send and receive photos as attachments. Bring your camera and its manual to class to learn the basics. Required: text and USB drive. Prerequisite: Computers-Level 2 class or equivalent experience.
