Ms. Fernández Fall/Spring Spanish 1AB(part 1)
The Spanish 1 course is intended to be the first year of study of Spanish for non-native students. Students will be introduced to different aspects of the cultures of Hispanic countries. The class is designed to attain an acceptable level of proficiency in four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students must cooperate by completing homework and classwork, assignments, participating in oral reviews and games, and studying the text and notes. The course is aligned to the State Foreign Language Standards.

Grading scales/categories
Students must earn a C or better to receive credit for course. The student will obtain a grade based on the following categories:
Scale: Categories:
90%-100%= A - 10% Active participation in class.
80%-89%= B - 20% Homework and classwork. (completion)
70%-79%= C - 40% TESTS, QUIZZES (accuracy)
60%-69%= D - 20% Projects (accuracy)
59%-0%= Fail - 10% DICTADOS (listening/spelling assessment)

Textbook “Realidades 1” (chapters 1-5), photocopies, and their school binder.
student´s responsibilities
Every assignment must be turned in ON TIME and COMPLETE in order to receive full credit. Otherwise, students will receive NO CREDIT. NO EXTRA CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN so try your best in every assignment in class.
ABSENCES
An absence is the only legitimate excuse for late work. After an absence, the student will have 2 EXTRA DAYS to get and turn in the homework missed during absence. It´s the STUDENT´S RESPONSIBILITY to find out what the homework was and turn it in. If you miss a quiz during your absence, please, email your teacher to arrange a time to take quiz during LUNCH during a 5-day framework upon return.
