Please see Ms. S. Zielinski, Math Department Supervisor, if you need to borrow one from the school due to financial circumstances. Please send me an email acknowledging your receipt of this packet as soon as possible so that I can easily construct an email list and keep you posted as to the summer help schedule.Enjoy your summer and I look forward to having you in class next year!Sincerely,Ms. A. Review of Trigonometry, Vectors and Combinatorics Some Important Points about this Assignment:We will be using Khan Academy this year; it is an on-line learning system that keeps track of your progress. It is dynamic, interesting, and individually-paced.Just because the content is delivered on the computer does not mean that you are not supposed to use pencil and paper to figure out the problems. You will keep your notes and solved problems in a spiral notebook or binder which I will check on the first day of school. Each section should be labeled with the topic and I should see a reasonable amount of work for each topic. On Khan Academy, I can see your progress and how much time you have spent on this assignment; if you are not at least at the “Practiced” level of a topic, you will not get credit for it. I recommend that you begin this assignment early in the summer. Use the summer help sessions to resolve any questions you have. Do not wait until the last minute!!This entire assignment counts as a 100-point Homework grade.Let’s Get Started! When you log in to Khan Academy, take the Pre-Test, if you haven’t already done so. Take it seriously so that you won’t be practicing things you already know. Your first mission should be set to Trigonometry. You can’t get credit for practice unless you take the Pre-Test.When you log on to Khan Academy you will see your dashboard similar to that shown below: 209550135890After taking the Pre-test, click on the Learn tab at the top left of the screen, then Math, then Trigonometry. You will see this:-857252540Khan Academy offers both videos and activities. Videos have a play button and activities have a star button . The topics available are shown on the right of the screen above. When you click on the topic, it will direct you to a page of sub-topics. This is an activity on “Trigonometry” that you are required to practice. If you do not get any of the questions right or are struggling a bit then you should stop and watch the video(s). Then practice the skill again. An example is shown below-85725104775Complete each of the activities in this topic. Watch additional videos if you need to review a topic. Once you are done with Trigonometry, go to the Learn tab on your Dashboard and pick Math, then Differential Calculus. Watch all the videos and complete all of the activities on the Limits sub-topic. Watch the videos and do the activities in the three topics listed below from the Taking derivatives sub-topic. Record your notes and work in your notebook. The star will turn blue when you are practiced in the activity, which helps you keep track of your progress. You can also use the “Progress” option on the dashboard. You must be practiced in every skill to get full credit for this ic List: Trigonometry- 30 Activities Total, videos are optional HYPERLINK "" Basic trigonometry – all activities HYPERLINK "" Unit circle definition of trig functions – all activities HYPERLINK "" Graphs of trig functions – all activities HYPERLINK "" Trig identities and examples –all activities Topic List: Differential Calculus- 13 Activities Total HYPERLINK "" Limits – all videos and activities EXCEPT “Old Limits Tutorial” – 9 activities, 31 videos HYPERLINK "" Taking derivatives – 4 activities, 19 videosWatch videos and do the activities for the sub-topics as described below: Introduction to differential calculus – video and take notesUsing secant line slopes to approximate tangent slope – all videos and activitiesIntroduction to derivatives- all videos and activities Visualizing graphs of functions and their derivatives- first video and activity “Derivative intuition” ................
