This document was developed to assist Speech-Language Pathologists in developing IEPs that reflect connections to curriculum standards.

This document provides general guidelines for developing annual goals and benchmarks based on the Program of Studies for Kentucky Schools. This document serves as a point of reference and assumes that each SLP will use their judgment and clinical writing skills to develop specific IEP objectives that target the needs of each student in their charge.

For further information and assistance in developing objectives for speech and language therapy, please consult the Program of Studies, the Program of Studies Implementation Manual, or the Core Content for Assessment available from the Kentucky Department of Education or your district’s Special Education Director.
