Battery Discharge Test Procedure - EDGE

Test Name: Battery DischargingTest Author: Andrew and XiaolongBattery is connected to a decade resistor box, the resistance is set to 8 ohms (6.5V and 750mA) to simulate the current draw, voltage across the terminal of the battery is measured every 15 minutes with the resistor box is connected. The results are collected and a scatter graph can be created to show the relationship of battery discharging. Then high voltage and low voltage disconnected voltages can be determined based on the resulting curve.Required EquipmentEquipment DescriptionQuantitySettings1Multimeter1Measure voltage2Decade resistor box18 ohms3Table 1: Required equipment and its settings.Test ProcedureStep 1: Set the decade box as close as possible to 8 ohmsStep 2: Connect the decade resistor box across the battery terminals.Step 3: Measure the voltages across the terminals of the battery every 15 minutes when the resistor box is connected. Record the value is MS Excel.Step 4: When the battery terminal voltage drops below 5.8V disconnect the decade box and battery.Test ResultsStep #DescriptionSpecMeasurement1Length of time for the battery terminal voltage to drop below 5.8V4 HoursTime (Minutes): 250 MinutesTable SEQ Table \* ARABIC 2: The results of the test procedure.Xiaolong (Battery B)Andrew (Battery A)Time (min)Connected Voltage (V)Disconnected Voltage (V)MinutesVoltage (V)06.236.506.492156.236.38156.376306.226.34306.360456.196.32456.330606.176.27606.300756.146.25756.290906.116.21906.2551056.086.181056.2351206.056.161206.2001356.016.131356.1781505.976.091506.1451655.936.061806.0701805.886.021956.0321955.835.972106.0122105.755.922255.9002255.665.862405.8002405.465.732555.0002555.115.41Table 3: Terminal Voltage vs. TimeFigure 1: Battery Terminal voltage vs. TimePass/FailDid the unit pass or fail the test?
