A Message from Mrs. Derrien

Dear Chatsworth Families,

The start of the school year offers excitement and promises for staff and students alike. Starting a new year gives us the opportunity to make new plans, design new strategies, and implement new ideas. We are proud of what we achieve at Chatsworth School, but our achievements are not due to complacency and satisfaction with the status quo.

Our program is what it is because a staff of dedicated individuals have a common goal ? to do what is best for students - and are always looking for ways to achieve that goal. This year, as in the past, we must concentrate on the processes that spur continuing student achievement: evaluating what we have, determining what we can do to improve, and identifying what we need to make those improvements.

We have had a fantastic start to the 2019-2020 school year. Beginning with outstanding turnouts for our Meet and Greet and Back to School Night. The excellent attendance of parents during both events serves as an indicator of your continual support and interest in your child's education and success. It is an honor and privilege to serve as principal of Chatsworth School. I look forward to working with you and your children and encourage you to become involved as a volunteer to help us foster the best educational experience possible in a safe and nurturing environment.

Best Regards, Andrea Derrien, Principal

Dismissal Procedure Reminders

Our goal every day is a safe and orderly dismissal for all of our students. With your help, we can accomplish this goal! Dismissal procedure reminders are as follows:

Early Dismissal: You must pick your child up BEFORE 3:30 pm if you are picking a student up for a medical appointment, etc. We use this rule so that the dismissal process is less confusing for teachers and students in transition. Please know that this will count as an early dismissal. Early departures add up and will count toward absences. We understand that medical appointments may have to take place during the school day.

Carpool dismissal: Carpool dismissal begins at 3:45 and ends at 4:00 this year. Please wait in the carpool line. We know the line may be long, however to avoid confusion, please remain in the carpool line with your carpool number displayed. If you come into the building after 3:30 pm, we will ask you to go back out and wait.

Different areas of the school building are warmer than others. For your child's comfort, please consider dressing your child in layers or sending a light sweatshirt or jacket to keep in their bag or locker.
