Northwest Academy of Health Sciences4627 Old Court Rd.Pikesville, MD. 21208The Lion’s PawWe are Lions! Reaching beyond excellence to extraordinary!Principal’s LetterGreetings Northwest Academy of Health Sciences Family! As each school year begins, all Northwest Academy stakeholders are filled with a myriad of emotions surrounding expectations, hopes and goals. The excitement behind providing effective instruction to our students, enhancing communication and shifting systems of accountability will be the pillars of success for this school year. Each of us is excited to have students back in our classrooms and being given new prospects for witnessing change. As we engage in new mission and vision work, we will be sure to maintain consistency with our educational values aligned with providing each student that exemplifies our values with numerous chances to succeed. With success comes celebration, and we hope to have many student, teacher and community gains to celebrate beginning with our Second Annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 24th, from 11:00am to 2:00pm sponsored by DTLR in conjunction with our PTSA and faculty. The word that will resonate in our conversations and represent our anticipations will be “Opportunity”. If we provide opportunities for restoration, rebuilding and growth for leaders, teachers, students and families, our intentions will be clearly communicated, and our impact will be felt. To do so, we need every stakeholder to echo our expectations of being Responsible, Accountable and Prepared. Our presence and consistency with these drivers of success will determine our influence. Our optimism will guide us as we strive for results driven practices that embrace the process.Lastly, we welcome all our new students, teachers and families to the Northwest Academy Lion’s Pride! Important details can be found for all at northwestms. and we are always available to communicate further. In alignment with our theme I ask that we all remember the importance of a Winston Churchill quote that will assist us in creating change: “The pessimist sees the difficulty in each opportunity, but the optimist sees the opportunity in each difficulty!”Sincerely,Mr. Michael Jones, Principal2019-2020 School Uniform Guidelines and Dress Code RequirementsThe NAHS uniform policy is designed to:-Promote a safe and orderly learning environment-Promote a cohesive atmosphere -Discourage inappropriate attire (i.e.- shirts with profane words and symbols, advertisements for smoking, alcohol, drugs, etc.)The Policy:-Students will wear the uniform every day; unless otherwise noted and administrative communication is provided to families for special events. -Students must be in uniform for field trips, assemblies, and all after-school activities (unless otherwise communicated by school personnel). -Students will be asked to change if they are not in uniform and will be permitted to wear clean donated uniforms if available.
