Stream of consciousness writing prompts
Stream of consciousness writing prompts
Stream of consciousness-is a writing technique in which a person writes continuously for a set period of time without regard to spelling, grammar or topic. It produces raw, often unusable material, but allows a writer to overcome blocks of apathy and self-criticism. It is used mainly by prose writers and writing teachers. This technique is also used by some writers to collect their initial thoughts and ideas on a topic, and is often used as a preliminary to more formal writing.

Write what comes to your mind as you are thinking. Don’t worry about spelling and grammar; don’t censor your deep feelings, use describing words that are vivid and meaningful (rather than NICE or Beautiful). Avoid simple words that do not paint a picture. Be specific. Focus on your 5 senses you remember---what did you see, smell, touch, taste, hear, feel?
Try using a Symolie : My fear was like a shaking leaf, the sun was like a vibrant orange….
Try using a Metaphor: I was on fire with anger. The moon is an iridescent pearl….
