First Quarter:

Reviewing Grammar and Writing Process:

Writing Warm Ups: “bell” ringer prompts, students start class with short prompted writing.

Use website for online grammar games, quizzes etc.

Use and create a technology supplement with predetermined quizzes/games etc.

Reading American Literature:

Biography study: read bios of authors first, use computers (biography or for clips) to search out author info prior to reading.

Parody writing: update classic works of literature by creating parodies that mimic writers style and form.

Research:

Short research project to prepare for Junior Paper
