SCOTT ELEMENTARY

215265-2540SHILOH SCHOOL DISTRICT(ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS)MENTOR PROGRAMThe Shiloh School Mentoring Program consists of adult volunteers coming into the school to spend an hour a week, after school (3-4 pm), with a child. We have students ages K-8th grade and I try to match you up with an age that you feel comfortable with. This is not a tutoring program and you don’t have to make them do homework (unless they want you to help them with it!). Our mentors and students usually spend time playing games, playing outside, doing craft activities or just talking. The students really enjoy having an adult spend time with them and it can be very beneficial for their self-esteem. A consistent schedule works best for both the student and parent (for example, every Wednesday), but I understand that sometimes your schedules may vary, so as long as we know in advance when you will be coming (maybe a monthly schedule so I can let parents know) then we can work it out. If you are interested in being a mentor, Jessica Seger would be happy to send you an application. Feel free to contact Jessica Seger, School Social Worker at Shiloh Village Schools with any questions you may have. You can email her jseger@ or call her at 632-7434. -108585130175SCOTT ELEMENTARY MENTOR PROGRAMScott Elementary School, located at 4732 Patriots Drive, across the street from the Scott AFB Youth Center, is looking for people who can give 1 hour per week, during the day, to mentor students. The mentoring occurs during the student's lunch time, so mentors would need to be available for the hour during lunch times. It is a time to get to know the student and essentially be a big buddy to him or her. The school has many activities for you and your student. Most mentors eat lunch with their student, and then spend the remaining recess time playing a game, talking, doing arts and crafts, etc. All contact with the student takes place at Scott Elementary School. There is no contact after school or on weekends. It is a school based program. Mentors meet individually with an assigned student. The school asks that mentors commit to coming one time per week for the duration of the school year. The School Social Worker at Scott Elementary will be happy to discuss this further with any interested persons. You do not have to be military to participate. Some mentors are civilians and many are retired volunteers. Please call Scott Elementary and ask for the school social worker at (618) 746-4738. There is an application process, and though the application itself doesn't take long, the Illinois State background check the school requires oftentimes does take some time.LA VERNA EVANS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM-5048251346205400675134620Volunteer TutorsNeededLaVerna Evans School is looking for volunteers to assist in a weekly after-school tutoring program beginning Tuesday, October 16th.
