JOB DESCRIPTION DIRECTOR FOR HEALTHY FAMILIES PROGRAM FAMILY SERVICE SOCIETY, INCTITLE: Director for Healthy Families ProgramEMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 40 hours weekly SUPERVISOR TITLE: Executive Director BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION. Master’s degree in human services or public health administration, or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years relevant experience. JOB RESPONSIBILITIESHealthy Families serves as the program that advocates principles and practices of early intervention and the specialized field of maternal/infant health, healthy family systems and community advocacy to eliminate child abuse and neglect, as well as to promote cultural diversity and primary prevention practices. The Program manager is responsible for:Supervising and managing the Healthy Families staffFacilitating the Healthy Families Advisory Committee; Communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, to promote Healthy Families of Grant County Assisting in fundraising efforts to support the sustainability funds for Healthy FamiliesSKILLS.Thorough understanding of the theories, principles and practices of early intervention and the specialized field of maternal/infant health, child abuse and neglect, cultural diversity and primary prevention practices;Ability to direct, supervise and coordinate the activities of diverse professional staff and to appropriately motivate and assist staff members in completion of a wide variety of assignments. Administrative experience in human service or related site, supervisory and counseling skills, and the ability to devise, direct, administer and evaluate a variety of programs and services for children and families. Ability to embrace strength-based service provision. Experience in quality assurance improvement and site development,Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a wide range of individuals, including program participants, board members, civic leaders, elected officials, government employees, representatives of funders, agency staff, community’ service providers, and the general public and to effectively promote Healthy Families of Grant County.Ability to assist in developing, organizing, writing and submitting grants and contract proposals. Ability to assist in creating and modifying an annual budget with a solid understanding of funding required in sustaining quality service delivery. Ability to initiate and expand a Program Information Management System, supervise and analyze data collection. Have a working knowledge of computers and computer programs that enhance service delivery.DUTIES:Directs and supervises development and ongoing operation of the Healthy Families program. Develops the collaborative efforts necessary and implements the Healthy Families program in Grant County.Responsible for the day to day management of the Healthy Families Program. Coordinates staff training and development opportunities. Assists with budgeting of Healthy Families, grant writing, program development.Assists with Healthy Families public relations; attends and participates in community meetings. Attends professional meetings, conferences and workshops pertinent to the operation of the program(s). Provides direct supervision to the family resource workers and other staff when their supervisor is unavailable. Maintains quality management oversight and reviews.Maintains close communication with the Family Service Society, Inc. Executive Team. Attends the regularly scheduled staff meetings. Provides periodic program highlights to be shared with the Healthy Families Advisory Council, Family Service Society board, and other community coalitions. Conducts an annual service review for each program and present a report annually to the Board of Directors. Monitors data collection for Healthy Families. Supervises use of curriculum to assess effectiveness with the target population, cultural diversity. Assists Compliance Director in the creation/monitoring of Memorandums of Understanding with collaborative partners.Understands and implements Critical Elements for the Healthy Families Program. Monitors compliance to HFA and HFI standards. Coordinates and monitors activities and events for program participants. Conducts bi-weekly staff meetings. Conducts bi-weekly supervisor meetings. Coordinates semi-annual file review. Assesses staffing needs; Recommends hiring and staffing; Works closely with Human Resource Director and Contract Compliance Director.Recommends to Human Resource Director and Contract Compliance Director policies and procedures relating to staff and job performance. Evaluates individual staff on an annual basis. Maintains staff moral to support and encourage service delivery and professional development. ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICESDirects and supervises programs; schedules and directs work; provides and documents orientation and training; recommends personnel actions, such as selection, evaluation, promotion, staff discipline up to and including discharge within agency guidelines. Maintains work environments that provide maximum safety and health and encourages safety awareness. Reports unsafe conditions and injuries/illness and incidents in a timely manner. Assists Contract Compliance Director in assuring all contract requirements are met, including defined service activities, target population numbers and designated client assessments. HOURS, SALARY AND BENEFITSThe Healthy Families Program Director shall work a flexible schedule. Salary will be based on education and experience.
