The program is designed to take place in community settings like libraries, museums, and out-of-school time programs to engage underserved audiences in accessible and familiar settings.state leadership teamsLeap into Science is scaling nationally through a train-the-trainer model, by establishing state leadership teams consisting of 2-3 institutions who will disseminate Leap into Science programs, targeting underserved rural and urban communities. Partnering institutions must nominate one person per institution to serve on the state leadership team, who will all attend a National Leadership Institute and collaborate to train and support informal educators in your state (including librarians, museum educators, afterschool educators, scout leaders, camp counselors, etc.) to lead science and literacy programs for children and families in local communities.32770232095500A state leadership team must collectively include*:2-3 institutions with complementary expertise representing science, literacy, and out-of-school time programmingCommitment to and capacity for statewide outreachAccess to informal educators who serve rural and urban communities across the stateCapacity to lead trainings for informal educators and support program implementation*Not every partner must have all listed criteria. EVERY state leader on the team will:Participate in the National Leadership Institute in Philadelphia, PA from March 25-27, 2018 to be trained in the Leap into Science curriculum, training resources, and strategies for program implementation and statewide collaboration.Collectively target rural and urban areas in your state in which to offer training and programming (3 new locations each year).Collectively recruit informal educators to attend trainings in target areas.Attend monthly project community webinars with other state leaders, led by TFI and NGCP.Observe two or more Leap into Science youth or family programs happening in your state.Contribute to project evaluation and research efforts through participation in surveys and interviews, as well as recruiting participating educators and families in your state.AT LEAST ONE state leader on the team will:Schedule, plan, and lead three 4-hour trainings per year, for a minimum of 20 educators per training.Lead quarterly community calls with participating educators in your state for programmatic support.how to applyJoin us for an informational webinar on November 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm EST (recording will be made available): Register at: the following application materials to Casi Herrera via email at cherrera@ by December 11, 2017.
