Slide 5 - Forecast Unique Demand Segments

Slide notes

The capabilities covered in this training will provide you with the ability to define a forecast model that is best suited for the historical patterns for a demand segment.

This functionality allows you to apply different Forecasting Profiles to different demand segments within a Plan.

Each Forecasting Profile can be configured with a unique set of statistical models, causal factors, and forecasting parameters.

Analysis Sets are used to define the different demand segments.

For each Forecasting Profile associated with a Plan, an Analysis Set can be selected to identify the subset of the Plan’s scope for which the Forecasting Profile applies.

Slide notes

With this feature, you can control how statistical forecasts are generated at a granular level. You can gain all the benefits associated with enhanced forecast accuracy, which is one of cornerstones of effective supply chain management.

Segment products, customers, channels, and so on, based on their demand characteristics to improve the overall forecast accuracy. You can now evaluate various forecasting profiles for demand segments to get a tailored and improved statistical forecast for a segment’s demand.

Slide 63 - Forecast Unique Demand Segments Setup

[pic]

Slide notes

You setup Forecast Unique Demand Segments by:

• Creating forecasting profiles with the desired forecasting methods for the segment.

• Creating an analysis set for each segment to be forecast separately.

• Associating the forecasting profile with the analysis set on the Demand tab of Plan Options.

Slide 64 - Setup Detail for Forecast Unique Demand Segments

Slide notes

When forecasting for unique demand segments is required, you can create one or more forecasting profiles to apply to unique segments of the forecast. For example, create a forecasting profile for slow moving products, and create another forecasting profile for products with high volatility.

Slide notes

You create one or more analysis sets to define the members in the segments of the forecast. For example, create an analysis set segment for slow moving products, and another for products with high volatility.

Slide 66 - Setup Detail for Forecast Demand Segments

Slide notes

Selecting an analysis for a forecasting profile is optional. However, if your plan has a need to forecast unique segments, you can select the forecasting profiles and analysis sets that you created for the segments. Multiple forecasting profiles can be run with each referring to a different analysis set.

If there is more than one forecasting profile, the profiles are executed in the order in which they appear in the Plan Options dialog box. Use the up and down arrows to reorder the profiles.

If no analysis set is selected, the forecasting profile is run for the entire scope of the plan.

Slide 67 - Setup Best Practices for Forecast Unique Demand Segments

[pic]

Slide notes

When using multiple forecasting profiles and analysis sets, the forecasting engine runs the profiles in the order they appear. Use the up and down arrows to reorder the profiles if necessary

Make sure the members of the analysis set do not overlap. If there are overlaps, the most recently run profile will overwrite the existing forecast for overlapping members.

This concludes this presentation. Thank you for listening. You can easily pause and rewind if you require additional time to take in the detail.
