Annotated Works Cited

Applegate, Elizabeth A. Encyclopedia of Sports & Fitness Nutrition. First ed. New York: Crown Publishing Group, 2002. 400-02. Print.

I believe this source to be accurate, seeing that Applegate has a P.h.D. in

Sports Nutrition. Admittedly, this source did not yield very much information

other than a small blurb describing the physical benefits of running (from the standpoint of a nutritionist).

Campbell, Adam. "The Aristocracy of Cardio." Men's Health. N.p., n.d. Web. 7 Mar. 2011.

From this source I acquired statistics of a survey done for stressed out men who began a running regimen. I would consider the source credible due to the fact that Men’s Health is a respected source of information in the field of overall health.

Dawkins, J. Ezine @rticles. N.p., n.d. Web. 28 Feb. 2011.

This source provided information on how the body is affected by running. Although the website looks somewhat unprofessional, I decided that due to the “.org” ending of the website, it was a safe source to use.

Dreyer, Danny. Chi Running. Second ed. N.p.: Simon & Schuster, 2009. 1-60. Print.

This source comes from what I believe to be an accurate source, Dreyer. He is an experienced runner who has written a book on biomechanically correct running form. This source provided a few astounding facts here and there.

Fixx, James F. The Complete Book of Running. First ed. New York: Random House, 1977. 1-200. Print.

This source comes from an experienced runner who did the same kind of research that I am pursuing. Therefore, I believe it to be accurate. Along with providing physical benefits of running, it has also had a bulk of the psychological part of my paper too.

Hopple, John. "The Many Benefits of Running." The Runners Guide. N.p.,

June. Web. 2 Mar. 2011.

This source provided, once again physical effects of running on the body. The source is credible due to the “.org.” ending. It did not provide the amount of information the books I have read did, but added to the facts I had already attained.

Ketteler, Judi. "The Benefits of Running." Runners World. N.p., 25 Oct. 2007. Web. 2

Mar. 2011.

This source is accurate and credible because it come from the Runner’s World magazine, which is respected by runners and doctors. Some new information which I had not seen in other articles was introduced in the article written by Ketteler.

McDougall, Christopher. Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen. First ed. N.p.: Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, 2009. 1-20. Print.

This book is credible due to the fact that it has been published as nonfiction. Not a whole lot of information was attained through this source other than some small references of interesting statistics which I thought would enhance my paper.

Morris, Rick. "Running for Your Life- Runners Do Live Longer." Running . N.p., n.d. Web. 3 Mar. 2011.

Morris is an experienced runner/researcher therefore I believe the information he provides on his website is accurate and useful towards my research paper. The information I got from this article is mainly statistics which will be great for my paper.

Narayan, Adi. "Is Running Bad for Your Knees? Maybe Not." Time. Time Magazine, 25 Dec. 2009. Web. 3 Mar. 2011.

Seeing as this article is from Times magazine, I believe the information to be true. This article dealt with more of joints and cartilage which might become a future paragraph in my paper.

Pfahler, Paula M. Personal interview. 19 Feb. 2011.

Pfahler is a chiropractor and is therefore is a respected source of knowledge for the effects of running on the mind and body. From this source I attained an interesting fact that could possibly turn into yet another paragraph added to my paper.

Pfahler, Randy. Personal interview. 19 Feb. 2011.

Pfahler has a degree in physical education, which leads me to believe that the information he had provided was accurate and credible. From this source I learned about stress release associated with running.

Sadler, Elizabeth M. The Benefits of Running. Vanderbilt University,

Jan. 2000. Web. 2 Mar. 2011.

Sadler wrote this research paper in much the same way I did. Since it was research and from Vanderbilt University, I assumed it was a safe source. From this source I gained new information on physical benefits of running.

Shaffer, Alyssa. "Power Surge: The Hidden Benefits of Exercise." Fitness. Fitness Magazine, n.d. Web. 3 Mar. 2011.

Since this source is from Fitness magazine, I assumed its facts to be correct. This article was focused more towards women looking to lose weight but nevertheless yielding yet more information on physical benefits on running. Admittedly, I read an article intended for a female audience.

Weil, MEd, CDE, Richard. "Running (Jogging)." . Ed. William C. Shiel Jr., MD, FACP. N.p., 20 Apr. 2005. Web. 3 Mar. 2011.

The information I gained from this source proved to be very helpful in describing what exactly running will do to our bodies. Weil is a doctor which also helps in providing some awesome facts.
