A Small Stop for European Rail Travel

We combine the maps, schedules and fares for over 50 different train companies across Europe, creating one stop to plan and book your European rail travel. Our wide range of products and services include:

Train Tickets If you're planning on visiting just two cities or traveling by train for less than three days, train tickets might be the right choice for you. Train tickets are valid for a single journey from one European destination to another. We also offer tickets for selected airport transfers to and from the cities of your destination. And, many train tickets are available as e-tickets.

Night Trains Traveling while you sleep allows you to explore a city during the day, board an overnight train that evening and arrive at your next destination the following morning ready to go. All night trains require reservations and normally offer a wide range of accommodations, from reclining seats to single compartments with private showers.

Rail Passes If you know the countries you want to explore and want to wander within them, rail passes are the ideal companion. They're perfect for anyone planning to travel for more than three days or who want an open itinerary. A rail pass is valid for a set number of travel days in which you can take as many train trips as you like. The travel days can be "consecutive" (i.e., 5 days in a row) or flexible (i.e., travel any day within a longer period of time for up to 2 months). Eurail Select and Global passes can include rail travel in 3 to 24 European countries on a single pass, while national and regional rail passes offer extensive travel within a specific country or region.

Reservations When you book a ticket on our website that offers reserved seats, we'll reserve them and it's included in the cost of the ticket. If you are booking an overnight train the type of accommodations available will be displayed. With a rail pass the fare for the journey is covered, but the cost for a reservation is an additional fee at discounted passholder rates.

The More the Merrier Our group travel consultants offer personalized assistance for groups of 10 or more travelers.

Activities In addition to your rail needs, we offer almost 100 different activities in 19 countries to make the most of your European experience. Consider a hop-on hop-off bus tour, museum pass, city transportation card or full and half-day guided tours.

Trains and Reservations

Day Trains

A wide variety of trains are available for travel throughout Europe. Traveling short distances may be on local trains with frequent stops connecting smaller cities within a country. Intercity and Express trains travel longer distances and may extend to another country while high speed trains, traveling at up to 200 mph, make fewer stops, can cover longer distances in less time and often offer higher levels of service and amenities. All high speed trains and many Intercity and Express trains require reservations.

How and when do I get my rail pass/ticket? You can make your purchase through your travel agent or directly from Rail Europe (online or by phone). Tickets can be purchased from 60 to 180 days in advance depending on the route. E-tickets are available on many high speed trains and whenever available for your journey they will be offered as a delivery option online during check-out. Rail passes and activities can be purchased as much as 6 months in advance.
