Languages of Instruction: English and French. It is possible to construct a course schedule entirely in English, with the exception of the required French courses. French language is taught at the intermediate and advanced levels and the school likes students to take French, unless they are native speakers.

No French courses for beginners are offered. Therefore, it is best to have some knowledge of French.

Living Arrangements: On-campus housing and off-campus housing are available. There are 1400 individual rooms but no apartments are available. Most exchange students choose to live on campus.

Living Expenses: Estimated to be around 950 € per month for housing, personal expenses, books and food. All travel expenses are paid by the student.

Method of Payment: Students on partner programs pay tuition to Emory and, where required, pay fees to the abroad school.

Visa: Apply for your visa at a French Consulate as soon as possible after receiving the admission letter from HEC. You must ask for a “visa de long sejour,” which allows you to fill in an application for a “carte de sejour” once you arrive in France. For information on student visas, contact the French Consulate in Atlanta at (404) 495-1660.

City/Country Info: Paris, the “City of Light,” is a relatively small European capital, which can readily be toured on foot or by metro. Must-Do’s include: the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysees, Notre-Dame, and museums too numerous to mention. And then there’s the food; from the most expensive restaurants to the cheapest bistros, it’s difficult to get a bad meal in the city.
