MEETING CITY:

This year, the Annual IECEx series of meetings are being held in the heart of Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States of America. The meeting venue is located just blocks from the capital’s best attractions, including…

White House: Residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800.

U.S. Capital Building: Home of the US. Congress (legislative branch of the U.S. federal government) and one of the most

spectacular buildings in Washington, D.C.

Washington Monument: Commemorates George Washington (commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and first U.S. president) and

is both the world's tallest stone structure and tallest obelisk.

Lincoln Memorial: Honors Abraham Lincoln (16th President of the United States), located in the National Mall across from the

Washington Monument.

Tidal Basin: Located between the Potomac River and the Washington Channel, and serves as a backdrop for the Jefferson, Franklin

Delano Roosevelt, and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorials.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial: Comprising two 246 feet 9 inch (75.21 m) long polished black granite walls bearing the names of

those classified as killed or missing in action.

Smithsonian Museums: 11 of the 19 Smithsonian Museums are located on the National Mall, including the National Air and Space

Museum.  Admission is free.

National Archives: Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights on display, along with an original version of

1297 Magna Carta confirmed by Edward I.

late 14th century English Gothic style, surrounded by gardens.

In addition, the Northern Virginia area has a large number of wineries surrounded by Civil War history. The parks in Virginia offer endless

opportunities to enjoy recreational activities. And, on the Maryland side of the Washington metropolitan area, explore the Bethesda Arts &
