LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson,SJ,PhD

President, Creighton University

The Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD, completed his seventh year as president of Creighton University, with the end of this academic term.

Dear Creighton University Graduate,

On behalf of the entire Creighton University community, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to you--as a member of the Class of 2022--on this momentous occasion.

Commencement is a joyous celebration, a culmination of your hard work and dedication, and the dawn of infinite opportunities in your life. Part of the time you have been studying at Creighton, from March 2020 well into 2021, presented obstacles and uncertainty due to the pandemic. You, as well as all people of the world, faced adjustments, complications, and hardships unprecedented in modern times. You persevered and overcame those obstacles, and you remained devoted to the goals you had set for yourself. I know I join your family, friends, professors, and mentors when I say that you have my utmost admiration for your adaptability and for maintaining your sense of purpose, commitment, and focus.

Please take a moment during this exhilarating time in your life to reflect on the transformative journey you have undertaken, and how you have deepened your understanding of yourself, those around you, and the world. You are prepared to make meaningful contributions to your profession and the communities you will join and serve. I have faith that you will be a leader who will help others thrive and who exhibits a restlessness and thirst for justice and equality for all.

May you take from Creighton University the best of what your Jesuit, Catholic education offers--inquiry, imagination, and inspiration. You are a changemaker, and the world awaits.

Know, too, that you are not alone in this journey. You are now part of a Creighton alumni family that is nearly 80,000 strong and stretches across the globe. Enjoy this milestone day in your life, and may God bless you and your families.

Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD
