First National of Nebraska Named One of `America's Best Banks' by Forbes for Fifth Year in a Row

Bank Holding Company Ranked 23rd on Magazine's 2016 List

(OMAHA, Neb. January 7, 2016) ? First National of Nebraska, the largest privately owned

banking company in the United States, has been named to Forbes' "America's Best Banks" list

for 2016, marking its fifth straight year on the list. First National is 23rd on the magazine's list,

which ranked the country's 100 largest publicly traded banks and thrifts based on asset quality,

capital adequacy, growth and profitability.

Forbes' data is based on the regulatory filings of public banks and thrifts through

September 30, 2015. The magazine used data supplied by SNL Financial to rank financial

institutions according to ten metrics, including return on average tangible common equity; net

charge-offs as a percent of total loans; efficiency ratio; net interest margin; nonperforming

assets as a percent of assets; reserves as a percent of NPLs; Tier 1 capital ratio; and risk-based

capital ratio. Forbes also considered revenue growth for the latest 12 months in its review. Each

of the ten metrics is weighted equally in the final rankings.
